"Bill" Eaker - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal July 28, 1993 Funeral services for Mr. Billy B. "Bill" Eaker, 74, were held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Baptist Church with Rev. John Scarf and Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial was at Silver Cross Cemetery under direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Mr. Eaker died Saturday at Vicksburg Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born in Kelso, Ark. He lived in Richmond, where he had been mayor for the past 20 years. He was a World War II veteran and served as chaplain of Scott Nicols Volk No. 100 American Legion Post. He was a Shriner and a member of the Tallulah Lodge F&AM. He was a member of the Louisiana Mayors Association and was overseer for the building of Tallulah Academy. Mr. Eaker was the former owner of a Chrysler-Plymouth dealership in Tallulah. Survivors include his wife, Jean Eaker of Richmond; one daughter, Billie Jean Rich of Union City, Tenn.; one son, James Robert "Bobby" Eaker of Robert Lee, Tex.; three sisters, Mamie Holt, Ruth Painter and Joy Hargett; four granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Tommy Leoty Jr., Robert Kivett, Leo Nelson, Tommy Wixson, Jimmy Lopez and Fred Gaumnitz. Honorary pallbearers were the Honor Guard of the American Legion Post. Memorials may be made to American Legion Post 100.
