All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ ----- Duncan - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, July 24, 1975 Truck Accident Kills Local Child A - year-old child was killed late ----- afternoon when she ran into the truck of Louisiana Power & Light Co. at the intersection of South Elm and ------ streets in Tallulah. Killed instantly, police said, was ----- Duncan, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Duncan. According to police, Jeff W. Goza, truck driver, was traveling south on Elm and turning west onto ------ St. the child ran under the truck on the right side. She was attempting to join her sister and brother, who had already crossed the street ahead of her. Goza told police he saw the two on his left, but never saw the one on his blind side. The only witness, police said, was a seven-year-old who was standing near the accident. No charges were filed because of the accident, which was termed "unavoidable." The child was taken to the Madison Parish Hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by Dr. George M. Webb, parish coroner. The accident occurred at 4:40 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today at Parkview Baptist Church with the Revs. Frank Shields and Dave Myers officiating. Burial will be in Providence Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Crothers Funeral Home. The child is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Duncan; a brother, Jimmy David Duncan, and a sister, Abbiegail Duncan, all of Tallulah; her paternal grandparents, Amos Duncan of Newellton and Mrs. Sybil Couch of Vicksburg; maternal grandfather, Albert A. Kilgore of Taylorsville, Miss. Pallbearers will be Eddie Holman, Robert Price, Richard Marshall and Jimmy Holman.
