DODD KILLED BY FREIGHT TRAIN C. L. Dodd was killed here Monday night when he attempted to board a fast west bound Illinois Central freight train at the depot. It was 11:15 P. M., that he made the unsuccessful attempt as bystanders watched him slip and fall beneath the wheels of the fast freight train. His body was badly mangled and he died within a few minutes after on lookers rushed to him. Evidently the accident at the time was unknown to any of the train crew for the train did not stop. Mr. Dodd is survived by a wife and child. He lived with his family in Sondheimer where he has been employed by the Sondheimer Lumber Company. The saw mill concern recently closed down and it is believed that he was on his way to Monroe, Louisiana, where he was trying to find employment. Dodd was about 26 years old. Relatives in Iva, Louisiana, were immediately notified of the accident. He was buried in the Silver Cross Cemetery on Tuesday afternoon.
