All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Nathaniel Josephus Day - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe News-Star August 13, 1937 TALLULAH, La., Aug. 13. — (Special) — Nathaniel Josephus Day, 81, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Sevier, here Thursday night after a week's illness following a stroke. He was a native of Bedford, Eng., and was a retired railroad worker. He was a resident of Vicksburg for many years before coming to Tallulah to reside. He was a member of the Episcopal church. Funeral services were conducted at the daughter's home Friday afternoon, with the Rev. George A. A. Tocher officiating. Interment was in Silver Cross cemetery here. Mr. Day is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Sevier, wife of Sheriff A. J. Sevier, and a son, Dr. Nat Day, of Jackson, Miss., and five grandchildren. From Madison Journal August 20, 1937 NATHANIEL J. DAY Nathaniel J. Day, 81, succumbed Thursday night, August 12 at 9 :30 p. m. at the home of his daughter Mrs. Andrew J. Sevier and Mr. Sevier. Mr. Day suffered a stroke Thurs day, August 4, and had been very ill since. He was a native of Bedford, England, coming to America during his early manhood. He made his home with Mrs. Day and two children, Mrs. Sevier of Tallulah, and Dr. Nat Day, of Jackson, in Vicksburg for many years, where he was an employee of the Illinois Central railroad retiring about ten years ago. He came to Tallulah five years ago with Mrs. Day, whose death occurred in 1934. Mr. Day was one of Vicksburg's prominent singers, having sung in Holy Trinity Choir for 40 years. He is survived by his daughter, Mrs. A. J. Sevier, and Dr. Nat Day of Jackson, Miss., and five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Out-of-town attendants to the funeral were: Dr. and Mrs. Nat Day of Jackson, Miss., Mr. and Mrs. Joel Myers and Mr. Harper Myers )f Grace, Miss., Mrs. Marie Myers Dent of New Orleans, Mr. and Mrs. James Askew, Jr., of Vicksburg, and Mrs. Fred Young of Vicksburg.
