A private Celebration of Life, for Jerry W. “Red” Copes of Natchez who died Tuesday April 13, 2021 in Jackson, MS will be held at a later date.

Mr. Copes was born October 03, 1950 in Delhi, LA the son of Walter Fredrick Copes and Verda Mae Prestridge Copes.

Jerry “Red” Copes was a graduate of Tallulah High School and great athlete in his younger years. He was the president of the FFA and became an avid hunter and fisherman at a young age. Spending most of his time on Jefferson Davis Island in his adult years, Red found refuge being amongst wildlife and nature. He taught many people to fish, hunt and reap the benefits of the land. He rarely forgot a face and never met a stranger. He especially loved to teach kids the ways of the land. His most proud possession was his grandson, Quinn. He was not easily forgotten. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends and all that knew him.

Mr. Copes was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mae Copes; and brother, Duane Copes; and one niece.

Survivors include his daughter, Jerika Browning, and husband Les Browning; grandson, Quinn Browning; sister, Laura Pitre and husband Richard Pitre; and sister-in-law, Janette Copes, 3 nieces and one nephew.
