Coody died Saturday, June 25, 1994, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Jackson. He was 68. Mr. Coody was a native of Texas and lived in Tallulah for 47 years. He was a painter and a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He is survived by his two sons, William L. "Bill" Coody of Groton, Conn., and Robert O. Coody of Delta; five daughters, Becky Deckard, Renae Bolton, Brenda Coody and Kitty Coody, all of Tallulah, and Edna Hearn of Redwood; two brothers, Eddie Coody of Dewitt, Ark., and Ogden Coody of Tallulah; three sisters, Leona Hattaway of Tallulah, Willie Mae Hilderbrand of Vicksburg, and Roberta Storm of Indianapolis, Ind.; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held Monday at Silver Cross Cemetery with the Rev. David Herrington officiating. Visitation was held at Crothers Glenwood Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Dwain Duckworth, Billy Peebles Jr., Dean Butler, Wesley Butler, Jack Bethea, and Robert Miracle. Honorary pallbearers were his grandsons.
