All rights reserved. *********************************************************************************************** Payton Wilson Carney - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Monroe Morning World May 20, 1962 TALLULAH (Special) — Payton Wilson Carney, 84, a retired logging contractor, died at 4 a.m. Saturday morning at the Madison Parish hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Cullman, Ala., and had lived in Madison Parish since 1924. He was a member of the Baptist Church here. Funeral services are set for 4:30 this afternoon at Young's Funeral Home chapel, Rev. O. R. Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Silver Cross cemetery in Tallulah. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ida Stewart Carney; two sons, Howard Carney of Tallulah and Payton W. Carney of Lake Charles; two daughters, Mrs. Mabel Ferrish [sic Farish] Lane of Tallulah and Mrs. E. L. Caldwell of Clarksdale, Miss. Pallbearers are Bill Bedgood, Cliff Erwin, W. A. Smith, George Watts, Ira Everhart, Roy McCaa, Marion Smith and Johnny Taylor.
