Carney, 211 7th street, following a lingering illness. He was 40 years of age. A native of Lambert, Miss., he had been a resident of Tallulah the past 25 years: He was engaged in the electrical business. He was a member of the Baptist church. Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon at 4:15 at the First Baptist church, with the pastor, Rev. Shirley Briggs, officiating. Interment followed under the direction of Young's Funeral Home, in Silver Cross cemetery. Pallbearers were W. P. Scott, H. C. Massey, W. A. Wroten, C. E. Hester, Lewis B. Furr, Earnest Stewart. Besides his wife, the former Miss Gladys Johnson, Tallulah, he is survived by two daughters, Miss Jimmie Laverne Carney, Miss Mary Catherine Carney, both of Monroe, La.; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Payton W. Carney, Tallulah; two sisters, Mrs. Mable Lane, Tallulah; Mrs. Myrtle Caldwell, Lambert, Miss.; two brothers, Howard of Carney, Tallulah; Payton Carney, Lake Charles, La.
