Burris - Madison Parish, Louisiana From The Gurdon (AR) Times July 21, 2016 Dorothy M. Burris, 94, of Gurdon, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2016. She was born July 20, 1921, in Natchez, Mississippi, to Edgar and Rosie Bearden. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 50 years, James C. Burris Sr.; two sons, William O. (Billy) Burris and James C. Burris Jr.; one brother; one sister; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. She leaves behind six daughters, Rose (Lon) Williams of San Diego, California, Ruby (Earl) Melugin Sr. of Gurdon, Lorene (James) Mathews, Wanda (A.J.) Whitley and Jewel (Larry) Ghrigsby, all of Tallulah, Louisiana, and Bobbi Johnson of Cottage Grove, Minnesota; 17 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; 35 great-great-grandchildren; and was excited to welcome three more in the coming months. Visitation will be 6–8 p.m. Thursday, July 21, at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with Jerry Don Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Tallulah.
