D. Wayne Burger - Madison Parish, Louisiana

DAINGERFIELD - D. Wayne Burger, lately of Omaha, Texas, passed from this life into the Eternal on 
December 27, 2008, after a prolonged illness. 

He was born March 10, 1940, in Brady, Texas. 

Wayne was preceded in death by his father, Dewey G. Burger; brother, Jerry Burger; and a grandson, 
Kelly Burger. 

Wayne is survived by his mother, Lillie Burger; sister, Barbara Jayne Burger; his wife of 33 years, 
Patricia Bennett Burger; daughter, Dawn Burger Higgs; and four sons, Darrell, Greg, John and James 
Burger. He also leaves 13 grandchildren, and a host of beloved in-laws, nieces and nephews. 

Wayne was best known in El Dorado, Arkansas, for his service to the Boys and Girls Club of America 
as a coach, board member and recipient of the Man and Boy Award. He worked for many years as general 
manager and partner of Holly Manufacturing of Tallulah, Louisiana. He retired two years ago to return 
to Texas and his love of ranching. He was a real cowboy. 

He was a veteran. He served our country in Korea and was proud to be an American. 

Wayne loved cooking for his family and church. He was a multi-faceted, multi-talented man with a 
wonderful sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by those of us who loved him. 

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at South Union Baptist Church, with 
the Rev. Chad Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Clark Cemetery under the direction of Nail-Haggard 
Funeral Home. 

Memorials may be made to the South Union Baptist Church mission or choir funds.
