Brulte, Jr. - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal May 24, 1968 Dr. Tom A. Brulte, Jr. Killed In Plane Crash Sunday Afternoon; Services Held Tuesday Morning Dr. Tom A. Brulte, Jr., popular Optometrist of Tallulah, was killed late last Sunday afternoon when his plane, an Aeronca two-seater, crashed at the edge of a wheat field near Mound, about 6 or 8 miles east of Tallulah. Dr. Brulte, alone in the plane, was apparently making a forced landing, investigators said, and was killed in the impact. The accident occurred about 6:45 p. m. and was discovered by a laborer who lived nearby. Dr. Brulte had left the Tallulah airport about 30 or 40 minutes prior to the crash. He had lived in Tallulah for the past 12 years. Active in community affairs, he was a member of the First Methodist Church of Tallulah and the Tallulah Lions Club. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Nell Brulte of Tallulah and three young sons, Kevin, Greg and Mark Brulte; his parents; a sister, Miss Verelia Vought of Grenada and brother, Warren Vought with the U. S. Army in Vietnam. Funeral services were held Tuesday at 10:00 a. m. at the First Methodist Church of Tallulah with the Rev. Clark Bell, pastor, officiating. Pallbearers were Donald B. Lancaster, George Batchelor, Sidney Berthaud, William E. Clark, Robert Gaumnitz and Robert Graves. Burial was held in the Providence Memorial Cemetery with Crothers Funeral Home in Charge.
