All rights reserved. ************************************************ Samella Brazil - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Portland (OR) Oregonian, November 5, 2003 Samella Brazil A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Aug. 22, 2003, in Cox Funeral Home for Samella Brazil. She died Aug. 15 at age 83. Samella Turner was born Sept. 5, 1919, in Tallulah, La. She moved to Portland in the 1940s. She worked in the Kaiser shipyards during World War II, and later was a nurse's aide for Hall Sanitarium and Mt. Tabor Convalescent Hospital. She was a member of Emmanuel Temple Full Gospel Pentecostal Church. In 1958, she married Roosevelt; he died in 1967. Survivors include her daughters, Louise Noble and Rosie Lee "Doll" Kelly; brother, Sam Turner Jr.; sister, Mandy Solomon; nine grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
