Blanche - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, February 17, 1961 Alex M. Blanche Funeral Thursday Alex M. Blanche, long time resident of Madison Parish, died suddenly at his home on Wednesday morning. Mrs. Blanche was with him at the time. He had retired about four years ago, after many years of service here in the lumber business. He was associated formerly with Tendal Lumber Co., and just before his retirement was an employee of Harry Schodt Lumber Co. in Tensas Parish. Mr. Blanche was a veteran of World War I, and was a member of the Methodist Church, the American Legion and he was a Mason. Mr. and Mrs. Blanche have made their home at Tendal since coming to Madison Parish, where their only child, Alex, Jr., grew up and attended schools in Tallulah. He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Alice Oliver Blanche, and one son, Alex, Jr., and five grandchildren, Mary Alice, Alex, III, Sterling, Brian and Mark Oliver, all of Eunice, La. One sister, Mrs. W. E. McKinney of Gibsland, La., a brother, Mr. Edwin Blanche of Newellton, La., and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held in the chapel of Crothers Funeral Home, with interment following in Silver Cross Cemetery, with the Rev. Wilson Watson of the Methodist Church officiating. Pallbearers were: Dick Horn, Dave Kaufman, C. E. Hester, Salo Abrahms, Charles Abrahms, M. A. Wroten, Ed Lewis and T. J. Lott. Honorary pallbearers were : A. L. Sevier, Sr., Henry Sevier, Sr., A. V. Sevier, and from Delhi, Dr. Lorenz, Dr. Shelton and Sam Mays.
