Jason Lupo officiating under the direction of Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home in Tallulah, Louisiana. Visitation will be held Friday, June 4, 2021, 5:00 – 7:00 PM at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home. Luther Atkins Bishop passed away Sunday, May 30, 2021, at Live Oak Retirement Community in Shreveport, Louisiana. He was born October 20, 1924, to Onia Malinda Franklin Bishop and Louis Arleigh Bishop in Epps, Louisiana. Mr. Bishop was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Onia Bishop; brother, Twiggs Bishop; sisters, Effie Lewis and Alsa Lee; and wife of 76 years, Myrtis Odell Williams Bishop. He survived by two sons, Luther Allen Bishop and wife, Dixie of Russellville, Alabama, and Henry William Bishop and wife, Donna of Shreveport, Louisiana; one daughter, Judy Kaye Storey and husband, Lum of Missouri City, Texas; grandchildren, Luther Allen Bishop, Jr., Nathalie Julia Storey, Tiffaney Renee Stubblefield, Eva Elizabeth Storey, Ruth Anne Bishop, and Hannah Kaye Bishop; great grandchildren, Joshua Bishop, Reed Stubblefield, Griffin Stubblefield, Elizabeth Bishop, Logan Stubblefield, and James Wyble; sister, Nettie Lou Kyte of Tyler, Texas; and many nieces and nephews. Luther served briefly in the Army during WWII at Fort Hood, Texas. He was a retired farm manager of the former Ashley Plantation of Deltic Farm and Timber Company at Tallulah, Louisiana. He was a member of Parkview Baptist Church. He was an avid hunter as long as his health permitted. His fondest memories were of hunts with family and friends, and the many meals of fish and game he prepared for them. Mr. Bishop had resided at Live Oak Retirement Community for the past two years. Pallbearers will be Griffin Stubblefield, Logan Stubblefield, Allen Bishop, Jr., Josh Bishop, Mark Futrell, and John Lee.
