Bettis - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal September 14, 1945 Stanton B. Bettis, ill for several months, died at Mercy Hospital Wednesday evening, September 12. Mr. Bettis comes from an old and prominent family of northeast Louisiana. He was born at Carthage Landing, Tensas Parish October, 1870. Before coming to the Sheriff's office in 1920, where he has since served, he was a prominent planter. He married Miss Fannie Peterkin February 15, 1915 and they have two daughters, Mrs. Coleman Kincaid of Vicksburg and Mrs. Edward Eiland of New Orleans, all of whom survive him. He has one grandson, Ed. Eiland, Jr. and one sister, Mrs. Agnes Ellis of Tensas Parish, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be from the home at ten thirty, Friday morning, September, fourteenth, with the Rev. Dean Maurer officiating.
