All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Billy Benjamin - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Vicksburg Evening Post April 9 & 10, 1943 BILLY BENJAMIN, OF TALLULAH, IS KILLED AT SELMA TALLULAH, La., April 9-Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Benjamin, well-known residents of this town, were notified late Thursday afternoon their son, Billy Benjamin, aged 20 years, had been killed. The report came from the airfield at Selma, Alabama. It did not state how the young man had met his death. Billy Benjamin was graduated from the local high school, and later attended Louisiana Tech and Northeast Junior College in Monroe. He enlisted in the army air service last August. BENJAMIN RITES IN TALLULAH SUNDAY TALLULAH, La. April 10 -Funeral services for Billy Benjamin, killed in the crash of a plane at Craig Field, Selma, Ala., late Thursday, will be held here Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the Trinity Episcopal church with Rev. J. Dean Maurer, rector officiating. Interment will be in the Silver Cross cemetery. The body will arrive here today. According to information received here Benjamin, said to have been flying alone in a powerful plane of a new type. The cause of the crash was not learned here. In another week he would have been awarded his wings. Deceased is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Percy Benjamin, two brothers, P, O. Benjamin, Jr., of U. S. Air Corps and Walter Benjamin, and three sisters Misses Shirley, Elizabeth and Cecila.
