Mrs. Shirley Belala dies at 36 in New Orleans

Funeral services were held for Mrs. Shirley Verhagen Belala, 36, Sunday at 2 p. m. in the chapel of 
Crothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Silver 
Cross Cemetery.

Mrs. Belala died Friday in a New Orleans Hospital after a lengthy illness.

Mrs. Belala was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Touro School of Nursing, New Orleans.

She is survived by her husband. Frank Belala, New Orleans, her father, M. A. Verhagen, Tallulah; 
two brothers. Archie Verhagen, Houston, Texas and Martin Verhagen, Tallulah; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Evans, 
Channelview, Texas, and Mrs. Joe Smith, New Orleans.

Pallbearers were Richard Powell, Clayton Cox, John Goss, Burney Rock Westmoreland, Mike Murphy 
and Hugh Holley.
