All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Shirley Verhagen Belala - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal June 17, 1971 Mrs. Shirley Belala dies at 36 in New Orleans Funeral services were held for Mrs. Shirley Verhagen Belala, 36, Sunday at 2 p. m. in the chapel of Crothers Funeral Home with the Rev. Crawford Williams officiating. Burial followed in the Silver Cross Cemetery. Mrs. Belala died Friday in a New Orleans Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Belala was a graduate of Tallulah High School and Touro School of Nursing, New Orleans. She is survived by her husband. Frank Belala, New Orleans, her father, M. A. Verhagen, Tallulah; two brothers. Archie Verhagen, Houston, Texas and Martin Verhagen, Tallulah; two sisters, Mrs. Jess Evans, Channelview, Texas, and Mrs. Joe Smith, New Orleans. Pallbearers were Richard Powell, Clayton Cox, John Goss, Burney Rock Westmoreland, Mike Murphy and Hugh Holley.
