(Special) - Edward Allen Beers, 82, died early today following an extended illness. His funeral will be held in Trinity Episcopal Church here Saturday at 10 a.m. The rector, J. D. Gilliam, will officiate. Interment will be in the Silver Cross cemetery with Crothers Funeral Home in charge. Pallbearers will be: Woodrow Cagnolatti, Dr. W. E. Reginald, Hugh Montgomery, John Sevier, Albert Sevier, and Will Harvey. Mr. Beers was born in St. Elmo, Ala., July 5, 1871 and his parents were Dr. Robert W. Beers and Louise Beers. They moved their family to Mobile in 1876 and to Vidalia in 1880. Edward Beers was educated in Jefferson Military Academy, Washington, Miss., and in 1894 he took up residence in Madison Parish. At the outset he was engaged in the mercantile business and then for ten years was with the Tallulah State Bank. In 1922 he became manager of the Tallulah Hardware and Furniture Company which position he held up to his retirement in 1946. He was member of the Trinity Episcopal Church for many years. He is survived by a sister, Miss Annette Louise Beers; and by two cousins, Mrs. Horace Lee, Tallulah and McWhorter Beers, Laurel, Miss.
