All rights reserved. ************************************************************************************************ Myrtle Cole Beard - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal, October 5, 1988 Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Cole Beard, 94, of Lake Providence, were at 3 p.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Lake Providence with Rev. Paul Carter and Rev. Ramon Warren officiating. Burial was in Lake Providence City Cemetery under direction of Crothers Funeral Home. Mrs. Beard died Thursday at tle Madison Parish Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was a native of Union Parish. At one time she resided at Crescent Plantation in Madison Parish as governess to the Ward family children. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a charter member of the Women's Society of Christian Service. She served as Registrar of Voters in East Carroll Parish from 1933 until her retirement. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Myrtle Beard Fowler of Tallulah and Mrs. Rose Mary Beard McInnis of Kosciusko, Ms.; two sons, Charles Carrol Beard of Shreveport and John I. Beard of Signal Mountain, Tn.; two sisters, Mrs. Gladys Cole of Shreveport and Mrs. Merrye Stadin of Portland, Or.; 11 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. The family asks that memorials be made to the First United Methodist Church in Lake Providence.
