Mrs. Martha Allen Spencer Beanland, 89, died Thursday, September 13, 2018, at Edge Water Point Estates in Boca Raton, Florida. A graveside service will be held in Oxford Memorial Cemetery on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. Ann Kelly officiating. Waller Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Born in Vicksburg, MS to the late Charles Allen and Myrtise Frances Shaw Spencer, Martha attended Intermont Preparatory in Bristol, VA and graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work. She was an officer and member of the Phi Mu Sorority. Martha married the late William Garner Beanland of Oxford, MS on December 25, 1950 in Vicksburg, MS. They were members of First Presbyterian Church in Vicksburg, MS, which was a very important part of their lives. Martha organized the first kindergarten at the church. An active member of many civic and social activities, she was a lifetime member of the Junior Auxiliary.

Mrs. Beanland is survived by a daughter, Lillian Beanland-Rush and her husband, Rex of Margate, FL; a son, William Spencer Beanland of Margate, FL; two grandchildren, Dr. Alyssa Rush and her husband, Giancarlos Hurtado of Boca Raton, FL and Shelby Rush and Franco Smith of Margate, FL; and a nephew, Walt Dunbar and his wife, Jane, of Greenback, TN.
