Elvira Barnes entered into eternal rest at West Jefferson Medical Center on Wednesday, November 8, 2017. She was a carpenter with Union Carpenter Local # 1846.

 

Devoted mother of Darrick (Antoinette) Barnes and Tonika Barnes. Stepmother of Jeremiah Hampton, Derrick (Christiana) Hood, and the late Krystal L. Myers and Jewell Devonte Jones. Daughter of the late Leon Sr. and Elvira Barnes. Sister of Yvonne Barnes, Leon Jr., Sylvester, Alvin, Calvin, and Charles Barnes, and the late Earnestine J. Davis, and Connie Barnes. Godmother of Tiffany S. Williams, Jasmine Williams, Eugene (Ashanti) Williams, Latoya Brown, Terrinika Walker, Latahsa (James) Thomas; also survived by 21 grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

 

Age: 63 years; a native of Tallulah, La., and a resident of Algiers, La., and a former resident of Marrero, La., for 33 years. Relatives and friends of the family, also pastors, officers, and members of New Jerusalem Baptist Church and neighboring churches are invited to attend the funeral service at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, 414 Westwego Ave., Bridge City, La., on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at 10:00a.m. Pastor George Davis officiating. Visitation will begin at 8:00a.m. until service time at the above named church. Interment: Woodlawn Park Memorial Cemetery-Westwego, La.
