She was born in Tallulah, La., and lived in Fort Pierce for 49 years, coming from Louisiana. She was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Mark Missionary Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband, Thomas Bailey of Fort Pierce; daughters, Everline Grant, Jerlean Spanks and Bernice Williams, all of Fort Pierce, Florrie Cato of South Carolina and Betty Simpson of Brunswick, Ga.; brothers, Tom Mays of Baton, Ohio, Hosea Mays of Eldorado, Ark., Johnny Mays of Shreveport, La., and Solomon Mays of Washington, D.C.; sisters, Gertrude Mays and Laurel Fargaar, both of Shreveport, and Louise Jenkins of Orlando; 24 grandchildren; 65 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son, Abel Watkins; daughters, Shirley Pittman and Mary Watkins; brother, Lonnie Mays; and sister, Sarah Mays. Services: Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 1 and 9 to 10 a.m. Feb. 2 at Sarah's Memorial Chapel. A home-going service will be at 11 a.m., Feb. 2 at Greater New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. A burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. A guestbook is available at www.sarahsmemorial.com.
