Averett Jr. died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004, at his home in Tallulah. He was 55. A farmer, Mr. Averett was a lifelong resident of Tallulah. He was a hunter and fisherman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie E. Averett Sr., and three sisters, Doris Pruitt, Myrtle McDaniel and Carolyn Sue Averett. He is survived by three brothers, Michael Averett and Glynn Averett, both of Tallulah, and Billy Earl Averett of Little Rock, Ark.; five sisters, Ann Wilson and Mildred Porter, both of Natchez, Wilma Whitaker of Tallulah, Pat Crews of Lake Providence and Jimmie Tucker of Dallas, Texas; and nieces and nephews. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Crothers-Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. John Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, La. Visitation will be from 5 until 8 tonight at the funeral home.
