Alexander - Madison Parish, Louisiana From Tallulah Madison Journal April 8, 1949 Body Of Sargent Alexander Will Arrive Saturday For Burial The body of the late Sargent Robert H. Alexander will arrive in Tallulah, Saturday morning at 8:44. A short Funeral service will be held at the Young's Funeral Home at 2:30 P. M. Saturday with Rev J. F. Kilpatrick, Pastor of the Methodist Church officiating Burial will follow in the Silver Cross Cemetery with the Scott-Nicols-Voak American Legion Post No. 100 participating with military services. Sargent Alexander attended the Tallulah High School and played guard on the high school football team. He graduated with the class of 1936. He entered Wooster College, Wooster, Ohio for one year. Then he entered the University of Ohio for two years. While going to college he married Doris Wandell of Columbus, Ohio and was making his home there when inducted in the U. S. Army December 29, 1942. He left the United States July 2, 1944 and was killed in action in France October, 10, 1944, while serving with Battery A, 253 Armored Field Artillery Battalion. He was 26 years of age at the time of his death. He leaves his wife of Columbus, Ohio; his mother, Mrs. J. H. Alexander of Tallulah; two sisters, Miss Frances Alexander of Bastrop; and Mrs. Marjorie Jurpe of Lynwood, California; three brothers, Rr. L. J. Alexander of Wooster, Ohio; Don H. Alexander of Wharton, Texas ; and R. T. Alexander of Tallulah. Funeral arrangements are under direction of Young's Funeral Home.
