Adams, 73, prominent local planter and businessman, who dropped dead on the main street here yesterday. From Madison Journal March 15, 1935 FUNERAL HELD LAST SATURDAY FOR A. E. ADAMS Prominent Tallulah Business Man Died Suddenly of Cerebral Hemorrhage Funeral services for A. E. Adams, 73, local business man and esteemed citizen, who died suddenly on the street here last Friday afternoon of cerebral hemorrhage, were held from the family home Saturday afternoon with Rev. C. Karlos Smith of the Methodist Church, and Rev. H. N. Alexander of the Presbyterian Church, conducting the services. At the time of his death which occurred about 3:15 o'clock Friday afternoon, Mr. Adams had apparently started for his home two blocks away when he fell to the sidewalk just to the rear of the Ziegler, Darrow hardware store. He was rushed to the office of Dr. A. T. Palmer where he died a short time later. The son of a pioneer family in Madison parish, Mr. Adams was born near Tallulah on February 26, 1862, and spent his entire life in this parish. Since early manhood he was engaged in the mercantile business in the firm of Adams & Ziegler & Company and had been active as a planter and in real estate. Later he withdrew from the firm to devote his time entirely to his planting interests and real estate. He was a director of the Tallulah State Bank & Trust Com-pany and an owner of the Planters Gin Company. In 1904 Mr. Adams was married to Mrs. Callie Montgomery Brooks, who with two sons, Will and Cliff Adams, survive him. Others surviving are two grandchildren, three stepdaughters, Mrs. Henry Sevier, Miss Addison Brooks, Mrs. Gus Willett of Alexandria, and a sister, Mrs. A. L. Lane of Tallulah. Those serving as pallbearers were: Dr. H. C. Sevier, Maxwell Yerger, P. O. Benjamin, W. M. Scott, W. W. Ziegler and L. M. Spencer.
