C. Abernathy, 66, 524 Claiborne street, died [a]t 4:35 a.m. Thursday in a local hospital following a week's illness. She was a native of Rockwood, Tenn., a former resident of Tallulah, La., and Sonheimer, La. She had been a resident of Jackson for the past 12 years. Survivors are her husband, Dr. Berry C. Abernathy, Tallulah, La., and one son, George Gaines Abernathy, Las Vegas, Nev., five daughters, Mrs. W. C. Keyes, Mrs. W. G. McCleave, both of Jackson, and Mrs. Clara Staba, Kerrville, Tex., and Mrs. Raymond E. Jaycox, Sacramento, Calif. One brother, Paul Gaines, Tallulah, La., and one sister, Mrs. R. C. Leeves, Tallulah, La., 15 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at St. Columb's Episcopal church, conducted by Rev. Paul E. Engle. Following the funeral services, the remains will be taken to the Silver Cross Cemetery, Tallulah, La., for interment services at 4 p.m. Friday. Pallbearers will be J. Herman Hines, Curtis Oden, Earl Flaharty, Fred McCleave, H. B. McCleave, Jr. and David Lipscomb. Wright & Ferguson Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
