The May 2007 meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society was held in the Dining Area of the Grace Presbyterian Church on May 17, 2007 at 6:30 P.M.  The meeting was called to order by President Charles Patterson.  A moment of silence was observed, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. 

It was announced that a genealogical conference sponsored by the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Library, Libraries Southwest, and the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical Society will be held at the Lake Charles Civic Center on Saturday, October 27, 2007 from 8:30 A.M. to 3:30 P.M.  There will be three speakers, vendors, and a box lunch for early registrants for the fee of $25.  For further information contact Shirley Burwell, Head Genealogist, or the Genealogy staff at the Southwest Louisiana Genealogical and Historical Library at tel. President Patterson announced to the membership that there would be no First Saturday at the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library due to expected influx of children that day to kick-off the summer reading program. Therefore, our First Saturday genealogical research event will NOT  be held on Saturday, June 2, 2007.

Mr. Pifer was introduced to the meeting.  He displayed his late wife�s collection of genealogical material.  Members were able to view and purchase the books, magazines, and printed material.

Member Dottie Burleigh presented the program of �Citing Your Sources.�  A question and answer session followed.
