The February 2007 meeting of the Lafayette Genealogical Society was held in the Meeting Room of the Main Branch of the Lafayette Public Library on February 15, 2007 at 6:30 P.M.  The meeting was called to order by President Charles Patterson; a moment of silence was observed followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.  Visitors were introduced.  Claire Decker is researching Senegals for her sons.  Barbara Thibodeaux is researching Landry and McCord.  Neil Slate is researching Humphries and Newman.  Cheryl Williams is researching Carlin�s.  Judith O�Neal is a new member.
The Minutes and Treasurer�s reports are given online at our website for view by members.  President Patterson gave a report of the first Saturday presentation of February. There were 20 people in attendance with 8 members giving assistance.As a result 6 new members were acquired. The society�s web site was reviewed; pictures and other information are always needed to be included. 
The meeting was turned over to Earl Gates who gave Power Point presentations on Ancestry.com and Heritage Quest.  Heritage Quest has recently been acquired by the library for patrons to use at the library or at home.  Handouts were available to those present.
President Charles Patterson reminded the membership to promote our society to other genealogical groups by offering speakers from our local society, information research, etc.  Members were reminded of the March Genealogy 101 to be held at the library on March 3rd at the downtown branch of the Lafayette Public Library at 9:30 A.M.
There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned.
