The January 19th, 2012, meeting of LGS was called to order by President Brenda Fuselier, with a moment of silence and the Pledge of Allegiance.

Guests were introduced: Murella Wilkerson, Jeanette Guidry and Connie Gremillion who wrote two novels on the Landry's.

Treasurer's report as of 12/31/2012 – ending balance $2,983.22. The 2012 LGS budget: beginning balance $2,983.22, projected revenues $1,050, projected expenditures $780.00, projected ending balance $3,253.22. James Bouque motioned to accept report, Lona Bourque 2nd. Motion passed.

Neal Bertrand, member of LGS and cookbook author and publisher, gave a very interesting presentation “My Notable Ancestors”. Neal had inherited all of his Dad's research on the Bertrand side, and complied this information with photos and stories. He spoke on how and where he researched.

Members will do a field trip to blue Bonnet Library in Baton Rouge on January 24, 2012. Will meet at Albertson's on Johnston St. at 8 a.m.

President is looking into getting a tour of the Orphanage Train Museum in Opelousas. Saturday, January 21st, the Ville Platte Society meets at the Library. Also on the same date Lake Charles Society is meeting at 10:00 a.m. with a show and tell.

On January 25th, there will be a General Workshop at the Acadian memorial in St. Martinville from 10 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.

Dottie Burleigh and Pete Lavergne are working on the Little Red Church Cemetery in Belle View. We've had no response from St. Alphonse Church in Maurice. We wouldn't have access to the cemetery ourselves. Will have to do this on the spur of the moment due to weather. Neal Bertrand suggested videoing the tombstones. Cemetery records are being recorded on “Find A Grave,” which Warren LeBlanc has forms to fill out for this site.

Members are needed to bring refreshment from March to November. Se Lorna Bourque to set a month.

James Bourque motioned to adjourn, Lorna Bourque 2nd. Meeting was adjourned and member enjoyed refreshments.
