remember that the February meeting of the Lafayette
Genealogical Society
will be held on the third
Thursday of the month, February 17, 2011, at the South
Regional Library, 6101
Johnston St., Lafayette, LA 70503, beginning at 6:00
P.M. Yours truly, me, Brenda Fuselier will be giving my
presentation on "Using Fr. Hebert's Southwest Louisiana
Records." This is a PowerPoint presentation of
the contents of each volume
with additional comments, and requested comments by
members as time allows.
Another reminder is for our road trip to Lake Arthur,
LA for the "Arthur Avenue Heritage Tour." on Wednesday,
February 23, 2011. This is a family home that is being
organized with family memorabilia to showcase one family's
history. We
can use this example to help facilitate our
organization of information we have collected to make our
family history relavant to other family members. THINK:
"We are the family historians;we are the story tellers!"
Members and people interested in genealogy may pay
their 2011 dues of $20.00 at the meeting Thursday evening.
And what Surnames are you researching? Please
turn in a list to me for "Les Memoirs de Lafayette," for
publication on our annual CD. It may include possibley more
than the 16 surnames found on the end line of our
four-generation pedigree chart. Thank you's to those
members that are contributing for "Les Memoirs." Feel
free to contribute pictures, stories,
articles, or anything of possible interest to our
members.
There being
no further business, it was moved and seconded that the
meeting be closed. Members were thanked for providing
refreshments and guests were invited for coffee and
refreshments.
