William Thibodeaux called the Lafayette Genealogical Society to order September 17, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. the new library on Johnston Street. After the opening ritual he welcomed the Honorable Judge Kaliste J. Saloom, Jr. Judge Saloom captivated a large enthusiastic audience while relating the history of Lafayette. He recommended we read:

�J. Phillip Dismuk�s History of the Development of Lafayette.
�Arthur D. Valentine�s Lafayette, Past, present and Progress
�History of City Court of Lafayette by Yvonne Saloom
Judge Saloom received a standing ovation from the large audience.
Pat Snyder moved we present a stipend of $100.00 to Michel Antoine Nicolas for his Basque presentation in August. Anne Padgett seconded the motion. Motion passed.
