I am trying to locate the cemetery where LT General Richard Taylor (son
of President Zachary Taylor) and his wife Myrtle Bringier Taylor are buried.
He died 4-12-1879 and she died 1875. Possibly their two sons are buried with
them. The only cemetery information I have is Metairie Cemetery, New Orleans.
I don't know if this means New Orleans or actually Metairie. My cousin in
MO furnished me this information, and I want to go to the cemetery and take
pictures for her. I would appreciate any information that you can give me.
Thank you.

Seeking information on JEFFERSON DAVIS COLLINS born c 1856 in La, thought
to be Jefferson parish. Jefferson married MOLLIE THAXTON (b.c. 1860, also
thought to be Jefferson parish) about 1890ish. In 1892 a daughter, WILLIE
MAE COLLINS, was born in LaGrosse, Jefferson parish, La. I have been told
LaGrosse does not exist. I don't know, but it was on Willie's birth certificate.
Perhaps its the area near Bayou de la Grosse down off the tip of Jefferson
parish? Can anyone help with anything on this family? I do not know the parents
of either Jeff or Mollie. The only other clue I have is that Jeff worked on
the railroad. Thanks, Ruthie
L. Durocher and Margueritte Durocher are listed on the 1850 Jefferson Parish
census in Carrollton. Their children that are listed are Louis J., Zelina
and Emma. L. and Margueritte were born in Canada. I believe L.'s full name
was Louis, and I know that his and Marguerittes sons full name was Louis Joseph.
I do not know if L. and Margueritte appear on the 1860 census for Jefferson
Parish, because I have not been able to access it yet.
Louis Joseph was my great, great grandfather. He went by Joseph, and fought
in the Civil War. Sometime between 1865 and 1870 he changed his name to Joseph
Bowers. This was supposedly due to a murder committed by him. He married Caroline
Broadway, my grandmother, and spent the rest of his life in western Arkansas.
He died in Yell county. I would appreciate any information anyone could give
me on this particuliar Durocher family. Thanks, Dewey Kelly Shockley
According
to 1880 Jefferson parish census records, there was a JEFFERSON COLLINS residing
with the Betty Whitesides family in the 3rd ward of Jefferson parish. Jefferson
was 21, born in La. (?) and worked in the Oil Mills. I am trying to determine
if this person is the Jefferson Collins born La. that is in my line. If anyone
is researching this name and or line and think they can offer any help, please
contact me.

Seeking any information on Thomas Grow listed in New Orleans Death Records

Searching for information on the MEYERS and MINNING families in Jefferson
Parish, mid-to-late 1800s. MEYERS: August & ? MINNING: Frederich/Fritz, wife
Elizabeth (HASSENROUGH); Wilholm; Frantz; Rudolph; Heinrich/Henry
Would like a copy of an Act of Succession for Elizabeth MINNING, wife of Frederich/Fritz
MINNING. She died 13 October 1867. Apparently the Act of Succession is dated
from 18 February 1868, and possibly in March too. My source for this information
said this happened thru the city of Carrollton in Jefferson Parish, and is
file #329. Can anyone give me information on how to get a copy of those documents?
A source in Orleans Parish cannot find any information.
I need the above document to prove or disprove this is the family of my August
MEYER/S and wife Eliza(beth) MINNING. Both were born in Germany. Estimated
birth year for both is 1844. Only child I can find is John Joseph Meyers,
birth recorded in Orleans Parish. I show Eliza Minning Meyers having a child
by a second husband (John Koenig) in 1879. Where did August Meyers go? Were
they any other children of that marriage, or of the second marriage of Eliza
Minning?
From the Act of Succession it is claimed that Eliza Minning, married to August
Meyer/s, died before the Act of Succession (1868). The Eliza Minning married
to August Meyer/s that I believe is mine died in 1894. I am so confused! It
seems there are two couples, with names and dates almost identical.
Any information on these people, or how to get various documents from Jefferson
Parish is greatly appreciated.
I'm trying to locate a cemetery for Elizabeth Moore Kennedy Jones, b ca
1815 in NC, Moore Co to Hannah Shamburger. (Hannah 1st m Edward Kennedy) (Hannah's
2nd M Thomas Hosey or Hosea). Elizabeth married Gray Barnes Jones before 1834,
probably in AL, Clarke Co, d Jan 17, 1890 at Lake Simmonett St. LA. Hannah
Shamburger Kennedy Hosey or Hosea (spelled both ways on census), mother of
Elizabeth Moore Kennedy Jones, b ca 1784-1792 in NC, d after June 28, 1870
census. "Family History" says she was buried on Avery Island in LA, Ibernia
Parish or Jefferson Island, Vermilion Parish. We took a trip to Iberia Parish
this year and checked at the courthouse and library. The lady at Iberia and
Vermilion Parishes couldn't find a death record or a cemetery record for either
Elizabeth or her mother Hannah. We were also told in Vermilion Parish that
Jefferson Island is gated and we couldn't be able to go in to search for cemeteries.
I wrote to the Tobasco Co. on Avery Island to see if there were any cemeteries
on the land when they purchased the property. I got a reply from their archives
that said all the family who owns the Tobasco Co. are buried on Avery Island
but no cemeteries were there when his descendants bought it. I just don't
know where to turn for records. Any help you can give me would be appreciated.

Looking for information on the family of Robert Sharp b. Jan 25 1901 Chunky
Newton County Mississippi d. Sept. 1987 Last Residence listed as Metairie
Jefferson Parish Louisiana Wife Florence D. Sharp(MNU) b. June 7 1910 d. May
8 1999 Last residence listed Metairie Jefferson Parish Louisiana Would like
any information on this family. Children maybe the following Sandra Sharp,
Judy Sharp, Robert Sharp Jr. and Catherline Sharp. Robert Sharp was the son
of Josephus Washington Sharp and Lucy Alabama Fanning.
I am searching for information on Lapeyre Durand/Durant who lived worked
as a Butcher in Gretna in the middle to late 1800's possibly into the early
1900's. We have City directories stating that he had a business at 1218 Lafayette
Street. His wife was Jeanne Verges Durand/Durand. In the City Directories
he is referred to as Peter Durand. Other names connected to Durand are Lapeyronnie,
Henning, Middleton, Evans. We can find no record of his death which we believe
is between 1900 and 1910. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I am seeking information about the family of Phillipe Stilmann. His name
is spelled this way on the 1870 census in the 13th Ward in Orleans Parish
(New Orleans) and living on Tchoupitoulas St. between Dufossat and Belle Castle.
He is 44 and a native of Bavaria. Three children are living with him: Caroline
13 (our ancestor), Lenna 10, and Ellen 7. I assume he is a widower at this
time. I am seeking this family on the 1860 census in Jefferson Parish because
at this time this particular section of New Orleans was still part of this
parish and not part of Orleans Parish yet. Because one of the children was
born in the decade between the censuses, I am assuming that I can learn something
about the identity of the mother from the 1860 census if we can find the family
in Jefferson at this time. Any assistance you are able to provide me will be greatly appreciated.
Sincerely,
Duane E. Lamers, Troy, Michigan

Looking for ANY information at all about this African American,
who was a LA Legislator during the reconstruction years, and his family.
William Norris - family lore has it that he was a State Senator during the
late 1860s/early 1870s for Jefferson Parish.
The 1870 Census of Jefferson Parish list him as occupation "Legislator", and
as owning real estate valued at $4,000 and personal property valued at $300.
He is listed with his 2nd wife Lucy A. 27, a daughter Amanda 16, son Charles
14, and another daughter Susan 1.
Wife Lucy A. was dead by about 1861. William then married Martha JACOBS.
The 1880 Census shows William living in West Baton Rouge Parish. Son Charles
is in the household.
3rd wife Martha Jacobs is also in the household along with the children she
has borne for William: Ella 9, Robert 8, Louisa 6, Mary 2, and Henrietta 1
month old.
Where would I find a marriage record for William and 3rd wife Martha Jacobs?
Where would I find information about reconstruction era legislators?
Thanks for any help.
