Mrs. Bertha Budden Reed will present the monthly program for the Imperial St Landry Genealogical and Historical Society at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 14 in the conference room of Campus South of Opelousas General Hospital on I-49 accessed via Exit 15.

Mrs. Budden is a former teacher and a student of history. In her program "Participation of Louisiana Forces in the Defense of the United States" she will delineate some of the outstanding events and military personnel from Colonial Louisiana to more recent times. The famous Galvez March to protect Louisiana from the British had many early Colonial Louisianians including the recently arrived Acadians fighting with the Spanish forces against the British in present Louisiana areas as well as along the Gulf of Mexico. Come and
learn some interesting Louisiana history.

Coffee and other refreshments will be served beginning at 9:00 AM. Come early and discover a new cousin or more. The public is cordially invite to attend.

New Orleans Navy Week April 16–22, The Historic New Orleans Collection, the National Park Service, and the Louisiana State Museum will each explore the historical events behind the celebration—the Battle of New Orleans and the War of 1812. The activities include lectures, tours, demonstrations and historical re-enactments, a concert, and special admission rates for military personnel. Many of the programs will take place within blocks of the riverfront, where 10 visiting ships will be docked.
