I'm looking for those searching the surname STAMPER. I received the information from a WWW sleeper search and would be interested in corresponding with anyone familiar with this family. Excerpts: In 1881 the New Orleans & Pacific RR survey was made the RR town of Robeline. Robeline, named after one of the early settlers, is a modern railroad town. As related in the history of Natchitoches and Sabine parishes, settlements were made close by as early as 1694-1711, May 1, 1881 Robeline was surveyed for C. Chaplin and additions made by N. STAMPER. N.A. STAMPER's store room was built in Dec. 1881. In 1884 STAMPER's steam mill & gin was constructed. I believe in 1884, the business center area moved from what was called the Boulevard to Texas Street. My gr-grandfather is Nathan "E" or "A" STAMPER and I've tracked him to Bienville Parish , probably ca. the turn of the century or shortly thereafter. I have an article that puts him in Louisiana in a place called Marshfiled(no longer exists as a town but is some sort of boundry markin now) where he supposedly opened a store there. Thanks for any help.

They later returned to LA prior to 1853 where their children John A. and Charles Edgar were born by 1858. Ruthetta returned to Decatur Co., without J.S., prior to 1870 with children Harriet, Lucian, John A. and Charles. I have a great deal of information about the Wood family in Henderson and Decatur Co., TN. I suspect that this family is somehow related to the family of Charles and Rosa Wood in those counties. I will be glad to share any information that I have and will be glad to receive any responses to this inquiry. Jack W. Wood
