There is listed for taxation in the town of Campton: 618 acres of land, valued at $8,042 47 town lots, valued at 12,000 36 horses, valued at 2,200 4 mules, valued at 410 79 cattle, valued at 1,512 5 stores valued at 9,225 Valuation under equalization law 1,850 Pleasure carriages, valued at 100 Gold, and silver plate, clocks, etc. 302 _______ Total Valuation $35,842 43 legal voters, 3 dogs for taxation D. S. Godsey of Hazel Green is in town looking after his interests as candidate to represent this legislative district in the next general assembly. It is time that all who intend to enter into the contest were making themselves known, that the people may know who the have to select from. C. M. Hanks, resigned the office of police judge of the town of Campton, to take effect March 2nd, and the board of trustees recommended A. J. Asburry to the govenor for appointment to fill the vacancy. Work is progressing slowly on the courthouse, but it will son be completed in a short time - as soon as the weather will admit. Died: - Feb. 25th, S. P. Kincaid of pneumonia fever. He leaves a wife and two children to mourn his loss. W. W. Swango, of Wolfe, who recently married the daughter of Henry Halsey, moved to Bath, near Owingsville. He is a young man of considerable push and goaheaditiveness and will doubtless make his mark in the famous "blue grass region". Dr. Thomas of this place is now in charge of the Champion mills across the river with John Wilson as first lieutenant. They are doing custom grinding for the whole country and sawing logs.
