The Hazel Green Herald - March 18, 1885 Work is rapidly progressing on the court house and when completed, we will have a handsome temple of justice. W. B. Duff has sold his house and lot in Campton to Dr. A. Congleton for $300. C. W. Howe and E. T. Reis of Mt. Sterling, were in town on the 9th inst. drumming for their respective houses. J. V. Hargis of Jackson was in town on the 10th inst. Mrs. W. T. Caskey who has been quite ill for some time, we are sorry to state, is not improving much. J. Taylor Day, of this place is having a handsome yard fence built around his dwelling on Main St., which when completed will greatly enhance the beauty of his property. Work will be resumed on the dwelling of Hon. W. O. Mize of this place at an early day, when it will be pushed to completion. He hopes to have it ready to occupy by the first of May. The ladies of this town, prominent among them are Mrs. Judge Swango and Prof. Hayes's estimable wife, deserve great credit for the enterprise they have manifested in having a sidewalk erected from the Christian church on High Street to Main. It makes the pedestrian's heart palpitate with joy to thus be lifted out of the ' slough of despond,"as it were, and we hope these good ladies will not weary in well-doing but persist in their efforts together with other fair ones of beautiful Hazel Green, until a sidewalk shall adorn every street in the town.
