F. Byrd of Campton. Gov. Bradley has pardoned Will Day, of Breathitt County, who was serving a term for manslaughter. Mrs. Libbie Higgins is lying very low at her home in Daysboro and doubts are entertained for her recovery. News has reached us that Mrs. Eliza Goodwin, wife of Sam Goodwin, had died at her residence in Ezel last Friday. Dr. A. C. Nickell reports --Born, to the wife of Harlan O'Hair, a girl, also on Sunday, 19th inst. to the wife of Jas.Risner, a girl. The young men of Jackson have organized a brass band. There were fifteen of them to subscribe to articles constituting the band and all agree to make it a success no matter what the expense may be. Homer, the infant child of Green Taulbee, died last Saturday about one o'clock and was buried Sunday afternoon in the Sebe Walter burying ground. Mrs. Alex Abbott committed suicide at her home near the mouth of Beaver in Menifee county last Saturday by taking a large dose of strychnine. It seems that her husband had been having illicit relations with her sister Fannie Phillips for some time. Abbott and the sister eloped sometime since and after remaining away several days returned to the house. Mrs. Abbott told her husband that she would kill herself unless he sent Miss Phillips away, but he refused and told her to go ahead. On Saturday morning she took the fatal dose and set about preparing brakfast, but before the meal was served she was a corpse. Mrs. Abott was highly respected in the neighborhood in which she lived, and great indignation is expressed against Abbott and his mistress. Dr. P. R. Phillips, one of the best equipped physicians of Kentucky will in a short time associate in the practice of medicine at Hazel Green with Drs. Taulbee and Nickell. Morgan County has secured another post office. This one is named Castle and Goldman D. Castle has been appointed postmaster.
