OBITUARY: Brewer, Rodney - Tuesday, August 26, 1997 Submitted by: ********************************************************************* Rodney Brewer, 70, Lexington, husband of Armeda Mays Brewer, died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday, August 26, 1997, at this residence. A native of Wolfe County. He was the son of the late Asa Floyd Brewer and Margaret Brown Brewer. He was a member of Ashland Avenue Baptist Church. He retired in 1984 after serving 17 years as an assistant principal at Tates Creek High School. He was a teacher, administrator and coach for nine years. He holds the winningest record to date at Estill County High School. Mr. Brewer was also a World War II and Korean War Veteran. Besides his wife, survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; Rodney Lynn and Peggy Brewer, Richmond,, and Jeff and Barbara Brewer, Jessamine County; one daughter and son-in-law: Denese and David Mabe, Lexington; two grandchildren: Natalie and Britton; a step-granddaughter: Tamie Parsons; and one sister: Blanche Tipton, Irvine. He was preceded in death by a sister and two brothers. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Kerr Brothers Funeral Home by Rev. John T. Thompson. Entombment was in Bluegrass Memorial Gardens. Local visitation was at Lewis Funeral Home on Thursday, August 28.
