She was a retired registered nurse having served as a first lieutenant in the U.S. Army Nursing Corps during WWII. She was the daughter of the late George Washington and Rebecca Cable Spencer and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. Survivors include her nephews, Mack (Maggie) Coats, Lexington, Lafe (Allene) Carmine, Richmond, Jack (Barbara) Coats, Lexington and Billy (Peggy) Spencer, Stanton, KY; nieces, Sandy (Darrell) Huston, Danville, Ann (Charles) Shiply, Louisville and Thelma Ward, Richmond, VA; a host of great nephews and nieces. Funeral services will be 11:30am Mon at Milward - Southland with visitation beginning at 10:30am. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park.
