Aunt Daisy's Memories

Daisy Golden Wood - Tyra

I was looking through some of my Aunt Daisy's papers and

found this memory of when she was a little girl. Growing up

in Wolfe Co. And I wanted to share it.

I Copied it like she wrote it down.

I remember very well being a spoiled little girl standing in our door watching for the one who helped spoil me. Yelling at old Anderson, Rose are a few. And Anderson bought me the only doll I had. I remember hauling it, it could cry, say mama to sleep she was a

bisque doll with real curly hair. I named my sister Nancy Mae

after it. When I was 3yrs old I went to church at Lacy Creek, KY.

Rode in my dads lap to small to ride behind. My little brother

James Edward died, (he was older than her died when he was

around a year old.) he was named after both of his grandparents.

His death was the cause, I got spoiled. Cast me lots of spankings.

But I never blamed my dear mother and dad. They didn't have

children for 4 yrs after marriage.

This is family names Siblings and who they married, And where

some went. As my Aunt Daisy wrote it down.

Grandfather James Frost Woods, Brothers Chaudler and

Willie Wood. 3 brothers went to Waco and Austin Texas.

(Don't know about third brother its how she wrote it down.)

The sisters stayed behind. 2 married Pence's, 2 married Tyra's,

and one married a Van Cleve. James woods had 3 sons, Monroe

he married Adah Bush they had 3 sons, Charlie, Alfred and

Monroe Jr, 6 daughters Lula, Lillie, Minnie, Carrie, Maxine,

and Marrie. Alfred had 3 boys James Edward, Everett,

And Henry, & daughters Daisy (Tyra), Elizabeth, Adah

(Tyra), Nancy Mae (Whisman), Virgina Nickel) Leona (Whitman),

and Irene (Scudder). Hulda Wood-Little her children Lola, Clara,

Besie, Roxie, and Call. Serenade Wood-Little had 2 boys ASA

and Steve. Rebecca Wood-French had 4 children John,

Cobe and some girls.

I guess Aunt Daisy couldn't remember the girls names. And I can't figure

out why she would spell Wood with an s some times. I know there's

always been a conflict if there is an s on the end or not. Its pronounced

like there is.

Aunt Daisy is 94 yrs old. She use to tell me all kinds of stories

about family when I was a child. She is the reason I love family

history. I just wish I wrote down everything.

She had a stroke two years ago. And doesn't even

recognize me now.
