Mrs. Gertie STANLEY, 65, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in her home, Nebo route 1, a half hour after she swallowed two ounces of
carbolic acid with suicidal intent, a jury held when Hopkins county Coroner, Carl HOFFMAN conducted an inquest. Mrs. Stanley
had been in ill health seven years. Surviving are the husband, John R. Stanley; a son, John Winstead Stanley, Hammond, Ind.;
two daughters, Mrs. Zada DURHAM, Evansville, and Mrs. Catherine KING, Hopkinsville; a brother, James WINSTEAD, Nebo;
sister, Mrs. Josie Durham, Nebo; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Nebo Christian church

Daniel STASER, 77, retired farmer, died at 7:45 p.m. Friday enroute from his home in Providence to Madisonville for hospital treatment. He had been ill for three weeks following a cerebral hemorrhage. Surviving are the wife, Rose Lee; a daughter, Mrs. J.D. EDWARDS, Lisman; two sons, Daniel, jr., and John Carl, of Providence; a brother, Edgar Staser, Evansville; and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Monday at Little Zion Church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in Smith Mills cemetery in Henderson county.

Edgar C. STASER of Evansville, former Providence resident, died at 7 a.m. Thursday in Cardwell's Clinic a few hours after being admitted. Nieces and nephews are the only survivors. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Burial was in Smith Mills cemetery. Bobby John STEVENS, 24, died at 5:40 a.m. Thursday in Cardwell Hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage. Surviving are the
wife, Frances; a daughter; two sons; mother, Mrs. Elzie SIMMS, and stepfather, Emory Simms, of Peoria Ill.; grandmother, Mrs.
Willie Stevens, Caldwell County; a sister, Mrs. John COX, Evansville; half sister, Miss Ernestine Stevens, Providence; three brothers,
Jimmy, with the Air Force in Korea, Dowell of Providence, and David Stevens, Detroit; and half-brother, Thomas AKERS, Peoria.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Melton Funeral Home, with the Rev. Edward CARVER officiating, assisted by the Rev.
E.M. SKINNER. Burial was in Lakeview Cemetery. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, April 10, 1958.
Lynville STEVENS, 38, son of Mr. and Mrs. Luther Stevens of Morganfield, formerly of Providence, died Wednesday of last week in Yazoo City, Miss., of a heart attack. He was connected with Southland Oil Co. The family lived in Providence when he was a young man and he attended high school and was a member of General Baptist church here. Survivors besides the parents are the wife, three children, a brother and two sisters. Another brother, Guthrie Stevens, died while in service during World War II. Funeral was held Thursday in Yazoo City after which the body was flown to Morganfield Friday. Funeral was held there at 9 a.m. Saturday at the home of the parents, with the Rev. H.C. ZACHARY, pastor of Morganfield First Baptist church, officiating, assisted by the Rev. C.W. DUFFER, pastor of Providence General Baptist church. Burial was in Morganfield cemetery.

Mrs. Mary Rhea STEVENS, 21, of Bowling Green, died at 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, in Waverly Hills Sanatorium in Jefferson county, following an illness of five months. Mrs. Stevens, who was born and reared in Clay, was formerly Mary Rhea Smith. She had lived in Bowling Green the past seven years. Surviving are the husband, Walter Lee Stevens of Bowling Green, who is now in the U.S. Navy; one son, Dan Lee; parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Smith; and one brother, Jerry L. Smith, all of Middletown. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in Kerr Memorial Methodist church in Bowling Green, of which she was a member. The Rev. I.H. OWEN of Bowling Green, and the Rev. P.P. NAPIER of Elizabethtown officiated. Burial was in Fairview cemetery, Bowling Green. Providence Journal-Enterprise, Thursday, May 6, 1954.
Mrs. Matilda Ann STINNETT, 83, widow of the late James Stinnett, died at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday at the home of a nephew, Tony WOODS, of Slaughters. Her home was near Sebree. Surviving are nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Lebanon church, with the Rev. Roy RIDENOUR of Livermore officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Elizabeth RUDD STODGHILL, resident of Clay until last month, died at 5:20 p.m. Wednesday in the home of her daughter, Mrs. George NALL, in Boise City, Okla. Following the death of her husband John L. Stodghill on March 29, Mrs. Stodghill went to Oklahoma the next week with her daughter to make her home. A son, Aaron Stodghill, near Clay, also survives. The body is being returned to Clay and is expected to be at Franklin Funeral Home Saturday. Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon. Arrangements are incomplete.

The next edition of the paper provided these additional details: Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Rudd Stodghill, 73, were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Methodist church in Clay, of which she was a member. The pastor, the Rev. Carl H. McGEE, officiated, assisted by the Rev. R.T. MILLER, and burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Clay. Additional survivors were five grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
John L. STODGHILL, 82, died at his home in Clay at 3:05 Friday afternoon after several weeks' illness. Mr. Stodghill was well known in the county, having been a prominent farmer of the Ashland section for many years. In September, 1943, he moved from the farm to his home at the corner of Grove and Taylor streets in Clay, where he lived until his death. He was born in Hopkins county. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Elizabeth RUDD Stodghill; one son, Aaron Stodghill, near Clay; one daughter, Mrs. George NALL, Boise City, Okla.; five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. M.E. COMBS and Mrs. Emma MOOREHEAD of Sturgis, Mrs. T.F. COFFMAN of Tucson, Ariz., Mrs. E.L. ADAMS and Mrs. Virgie ASHBY of Madisonville; three brothers, the Rev. T.W. Stodghill and the Rev. C.E. Stodghill of Winnsboro, La., and Walter Stodghill of Bisbee, Ariz. Funeral services were conducted Monday at 2 p.m. in the Clay Methodist church, of which he was a member. The pastor, the Rev. Carl H. McGEE, officiated, assisted by the Rev. R.T. MILLER, pastor of First Baptist church, and the Rev. Rutherford, pastor of Trinity Gospel Tabernacle. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Ben Gilbert STONE, 60, of Clay Route 1, died at 11:20 p.m. Saturday in Methodist Hospital in Henderson. Surviving are the wife, Irene; four daughters, Mrs. Audie WILSON of Robards, Mrs. Brackett HINTON of Sullivan, and Mattie and Joy, at home; six sons, William E. of Waverly, Melvin, Clinton and Ray of Henderson, and Preston and Prentice, at home; a step-son, Robert BLACK, at home; three step-daughters, Mrs. Roy Wilson of Henderson, Mrs. William O. VAILES of Woodland, Ill., and Mrs. N.A. WEST of Clay; 13 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; three brothers, Sherman of Morganfield, Jack of Dixon, and Grant Stone of Corydon; and two sisters, Mrs. Toy POWELL and Mrs. Jim Stone of Corydon. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the General Baptist Church in Poole, with the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.

Blueford Allen STONE, 44, Henderson county, former Webster county resident, died at 9 a.m. Tuesday in Henderson Hospital. Surviving are two children, Blueford Allen, jr., and Cissy; a brother, Humphrey of Dixon; two sisters, Mrs. J.W. WILLIAMS of Henderson and Mrs. Flora HARMAN of Dixon. Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. today in Slover church, near Dixon, with the Rev. Nealey PEARCY officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. Bobby Lee STONE, 23-months-old son of Mr. and Mrs. James Lester Stone of Detroit, formerly of Providence, died at 5 a.m. Monday in a Detroit hospital as the result of having eaten poison pills at noon Sunday. Survivors besides the parents are a brother, Jay Deland Stone; grandparents, Mrs. and Mrs. Agar L. Stone, Providence, and Mrs. and Mrs. Gilbert KNIGHT, Detroit; great-grandmother, Mrs. S.K. THRELKELD, Providence; and great-grandfather, E.B. BURKLOW, Morganfield. Funeral and burial are to be in Detroit today.

George T. (Monk) STONE of Indianapolis, Ind., formerly of Clay, died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, June 29, at 1907 N. Illinois Street in Indianapolis. Surviving are the wife, Beulah; two daughters, Mrs. Archie BECKNER of Providence, and Georgia, of Indianapolis; four sons, Madell, Flint, Raymond, and Everett, of Indianapolis; and grandchildren. Funeral and burial were in Indianapolis the following Tuesday afternoon.

Joe Ann STONE, five-months-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Stone, near Sebree, died at 7 a.m. Sunday in Hopkins County Hospital, Madisonville, of complications of influenza and pneumonia. Survivors besides the parents are grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John WILSON of Sebree. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday in the General Baptist church in Poole, with the Rev. E.Y. Larkin STONE, 29, died at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in an Evansville hospital of injuries suffered at 4 a.m. when he was hit by an L&N
train near the old Providence Coal Mining Co. No. 3 mine. Survivors are his mother, Mrs. Janie WILLIAMS; a brother, J.B. Stone;
and a sister, Mrs. Willie LEVI, all of Providence; and a half brother, John Rice Williams, who is in service overseas and is a
hospital patient following wounds received in action. Funeral services were held at the home on Union street at 2 p.m. Monday,
with the Rev. Ales RINEHAMMER officiating. Burial was in Big Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Mary B. STONE, 88, died at 6:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Jeff T. Stone, of Dixon, after a long illness.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. L.V. HEADY of Blackford and Mrs. Stone of Dixon; a son, Charlie Stone of Greenville; a sister,
Mrs. Thad STEWART of Providence; and two brothers, George Franklin Stone of Dixon and Jim E. Stone of Henderson; nine
grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted at the home at 2 p.m. Monday, with the Rev.

Prentice A. STONE, 39, who was reared in Clay, died suddenly at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in his home in Henderson. Death was attributed to a heart attack. He was associated with his father, L.V. Stone, in operation of Stone's Tourist Camp, south of Henderson. Surviving are the wife, Lorraine; a daughter, Nyra Carol; two sons, James Vernon and John David; parents, Mr. and Mrs. L.V. Stone; and sister, Mrs. W.S. VAUGHN, all of Henderson. The parents were called home from Orlando, Fla., where they spent the winter. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. today in the home with burial in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Clay.

Survivors besides the parents are three sisters, Norma Sue, Geraldine, and Martha Jean; brothers James and Kenneth; and grandfather, Bud Stone, near Dixon. A.E. STRUM, 76, retired farmer of Poole, died at his home at 6 a.m. Wednesday after a six weeks' illness. Survivors are the wife,
Delia, and one son, L.L. Strum, of Poole. The body is at the son's home and will be taken at 1 p.m. Friday to the Poole Methodist
church to lie until the funeral services at 3 p.m. The Rev. O.B. KYLE of Robards and the Rev. E.Y. LASLIE of Poole will
officiate. Active pallbearers will be Ray BRINSON, Ray POWELL, Ohoy BRADLEY, Norris BROWN, Hobart ALLEN, and Jack
PHILLIPS. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray TAPP, Jack CROWLEY, Edward BROOK, Holloway POOLE, Pete WALKER, and
Holman HANCOCK. Burial will be in Slaughters Cemetery.

Aaron C. SUGG, 69, of Pollock Pines CA, brother of Mrs. W. W. LANGLEY, Providence, died Sunday in a hospital in St. Petersburg FL following a heart attack. He spent several weeks visiting relatives in Morganfield and Providence in the fall and went to Florida in November. Survivors are a son, Proctor Sugg, Oklahoma City OK; a daughter, Mrs. Fred VAUGHN, Phoenix AZ; three sisters, Mrs. Langley, Providence; Mrs. Lucy SPARKS, Lexington, and Miss Betty Sugg, Morganfield; and a brother, Joel Sugg, Morganfield. His wife died several months ago. The body was taken to Morganfield and funeral services were held at Whitsell Funeral Home there at 2 p.m. Wednesday. Joel SUGG, 75, of Morganfield, brother of Mrs. W.W. LANGLEY of Providence, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Morganfield. Surviving besides Mrs. Langley are two others sisters, Mrs. B.J. SPARKS, Lexington, and Miss Betty Sugg, Morganfield; nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Whitsell Funeral Home in Morganfield, with the Rev. James L. DIAL of Providence officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery, Morganfield.

Morganfield after a long illness. She was the mother of Mrs. A.L.
DONAN and Mrs. Roy HURLEY of Providence. Survivors in addition to
Mrs. Donan and Mrs. Hurley are two sons, John Sugg, jr., Morganfield,
former state senator, and Webster Sugg, Morganfield, who is connected
with the Union county Farm Bureau; and two other daughters, Mrs. Aaron
GIVENS, Flint, Mich., and Mrs. George BLUE, Griffin, Ga. Funeral
services were conducted Monday at 4 p.m. at the home in Morganfield,
with the Rev. Neal WYNDHAM officiating. Burial was in the Masonic

Flave B. SULLIVAN, 69, died of a heart ailment at 8:10 a.m. Saturday in his home at Dalton. Survivors are the wife; a daughter, Mrs. George ESKEW, Dalton; three sons, Orbie, Willie, and Robert, of Dalton; and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl GIBSON, Evansville and Mrs. Minnie HOUGHTON, Dalton. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Felker cemetery with burial there. The Rev. Allen HART officiated.

NANCE, Slaughters; and three brothers, W.T., J.A., and A.G. Sutton, all of Sebree. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday in Sebree Methodist church, with the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree.

Mrs. Elymus SUTTON, 53, of Henderson, former Webster county resident, died Sunday night when struck by an automobile driven by James E. HENRY, Camp Breckinridge soldier, who is being held on manslaughter charges. Mrs. Sutton, who was born and reared in the Mt. Pleasant community between Dixon and Slaughters, had alighted from a car in front of her home after attending church services, when she was struck. Survivors are the husband, Houston; son, Prentice Ray; a granddaughter; brothers, Oscar RAY of Sebree, Welby Ray of Henderson, and Aubrey Ray of New Orleans, La.; and sisters, Mrs. A.E. OWEN and Mrs. W.E. MELTON of Henderson, and Mrs. Albert ORR of Little Rock, Ark. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at the General Baptist church in Henderson, with the Rev. O.B. CLARK and the Rev. Bayne WILSON officiating. Burial will be in Fernwood cemetery, Henderson.

Sutton; four daughters, Mrs. Essell RUSSELL and Mrs. Beulah BRIDWELL of Poole, Miss Zola Anna Sutton and Mrs. Velma CRANE of Miami, Fla.; one son, Shelby F. Sutton of Bardwell; thirteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the General Baptist Church in Poole, with the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY and the Rev. J.E. SAMPLES officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.

S.T. SUTTON, 88, former Sebree resident, died Monday afternoon at the home of a son, C.C. Sutton, in Crofton. Mr. Sutton was a former magistrate from the Sebree district and was superintendent of Petersburg Methodist Sunday School. Survivors are the wife, Ella B. Sutton; sons, C.C., of Crofton, and James P., of West Frankfort, Ill.; two daughters, Mrs. Olin WEAVER, Chicago, and Mrs. Talmadge LAYMER, Los Angeles, Calif.; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Petersburg Methodist church, with the Rev. J.R. GUNN officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Steve B. SUTTON, 76, former Webster county resident, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday at his home on Hanson route 1. Survivors are the wife, Fannie; four sons, Hurley, of Hopkinsville, Thomas, Slaughters route 2, Eugene, of Slaughters, and Gemsie, of Evansville; five daughters, Mrs. Ida Jean SCHEARER, of California, Mrs. Susie DENTON, Providence route 1, Mrs. Lular SCOTT of Sebree route 3, Mrs. Peachie EDEN, Uniontown route 2, and Mrs. Ruby MELDZER, of Illinois; 34 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Burley Denton, near Providence, with the Rev. BERRY officiating. Burial was in a family cemetery between Poole and Cairo.
