Funeral services for Mrs. Avia DANIELS NALL, 68, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the General Baptist Church in Clay,
with the Rev. E.L. GRANT officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Mrs. Nall died at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday,
December 9, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Woodrow MARKS and Mr. Marks in Gary, Ind., where she had been since
August. She had been ill for several months. The body was brought Friday to Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in
Clay. Surviving are the husband, Joe Nall; four sons, Raymond, Earl, Frank, and Marlin Nall of Detroit, Mich., three
daughters, Mrs. Erma BAKER and Mrs. Paul MALINOUSKI of Detroit, and Mrs. Marks of Gary; a sister, Mrs. Virgie

Bobby Carl NALL, 28, of Washington, D.C., formerly of Clay, died at 7 p.m. Monday in an ambulance enroute to a hospital in Washington. He had been ill but had returned to work Monday. He suffered a hemorrhage Monday evening which resulted in his death. He graduated from Clay High School in 1944, entered the Navy the following September and served 18 months, after which he enrolled at Western State College, graduated in 1949. Since 1950 he had been employed as librarian with the U.S. Weather Bureau in Washington. He was attending George Washington University at night and would have received his master's degree in June. Surviving are the mother, Jewell QUALLS, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Qualls, all of Clay.
The body will arrive sometime this afternoon at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay. Arrangements are incomplete, but funeral services are expected to be held Saturday afternoon. George NALL, 75, died at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Clay. Surviving are the wife, Susie; two sons, T.D., of Memphis, Tenn., and W.C., of Paducah; three daughters, Mrs. George GAMBILL of Brookland, Ark., Mrs. Hilton RIVLEY of Paragould, Ark., and Mrs. Estelle STROUSE of Sebree; a brother, Ben, of Brookland, Ark.; three sisters, Mrs. Alex SHANKS of Batesville, Ark., Mrs. Lucy MADDEN of Christopher, Ill., and Mrs. Hester TACKE, Allensville, Mo; a half-brother, J.W. Nall of Clay; a half-sister, Mrs. Maggie PRICE of Kingsville, Tex.; and grandchildren. Funeral services will be at 2:30 p.m. today in Clay First Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL of Providence officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

James W. NALL, 90, retired farmer and stock dealer, died at 2:40 a.m. Tuesday at his home in Clay, following a long illness. He was a director and for many years was vice-president of the Farmers Bank in Clay. He was a member of Ashland Cumberland Presbyterian Church, I.O.O.F. and Masonic lodges.
Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Lillian SMITH, near Sturgis, Mrs. Sybil HOOKER, of Martel, Tenn., and Miss Nettie Nall, Clay; two sons, Dr. J.O. Nall, Marion, and O.S. Nall, near Clay; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Ben Nall, Brooklyn, Ark.; and two half-sisters, Mrs. Hester TACKE, Allensville, Mo., and Mrs. Fannie SHANKS, Batesville, Ark. The body is at Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon at Ashland church, with the Rev. R. T. MITCHELL officiating, assisted by the Rev. Morris CLARK. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay, with Masons in charge.

Joe Frank NALL, 73, of Clay died at 8:50 a.m. Friday in a Gary, Ind., hospital after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage Wednesday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Woodrow MARKS and Mr. Marks in Gary. He had been there since January 9. Mr. Nall was born and reared in Webster county. He and Mrs. Nall had lived in the same house in Clay for almost 40 years. Mrs. Nall died December 9. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Erma BAKER and Mrs. Paul MALINOUSKI of Detroit, and Mrs. Woodrow Marks of Gary; four sons, Raymond, Frank, Earl and Marlin Nall, of Detroit; 16 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The body was brought to Franklin and Edwards Funeral Home in Clay Saturday morning and remained there until time for the funeral which was at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the General Baptist Church. the Rev. E.L. GRANT officiated. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay. Pallbearers were M.T. PARIS, Luther CURLEE, Robert BIRDWELL, Russell PUCKETT, F.B. KNIGHT and Mitchell Knight.

Lagora J. NALL, 76, died at his home in Clay at 11:45 p.m. Monday,
following an illness of two years. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Laura
Whitsell Nall; two daughters, Mrs. Dessie LATIMER of Evansville, and
Mrs. Gussie WHITSELL of Repton; one sister Mrs. Sibbie MINTON of
Sessor, Ill.; twelve grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and one
great-great-grandchild. Funeral services were conducted at the
Franklin Funeral Home in Clay at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. E.G.
SISK of Madisonville officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery,

Mrs. Margaret NALL, 74, wife of Charlie Nall, died at 11:20 a.m. Tuesday at her home near Dixon. Surviving besides the husband are a daughter, Mrs. Dee RUSSELL of Dixon; two sisters, Mrs. Noah Nall, Dixon, and Mrs. Eunice WALLACE, Sebree; two brothers, Joe HARMON of Dixon and Mack Harmon of Chicago, Ill.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tapp Funeral Home in Dixon, with Max TOWEL officiating. Burial was in Fairview church cemetery.

Mrs. Blanche NANCE, 64, of Newburgh, Ind., formerly of Onton, died at 4:30 p.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Hospital in Evansville.
Surviving are the husband, Henry; five sons, Allen of Sacramento, Calif., Henry, Jr., of St. Louis, Mo., Maxie of Wilmington, Calif.,
Wilford and Gaythel of Newburgh; a daughter, Mrs. Wanda McCORMICK of Pacific, Mo.; a brother, Vinil ASHBY of Logansport, Ind.;
and three sisters, Mrs. Postal EMBRY and Mrs. Myrtle RAMSEY of Newburgh, and Mrs. Vessie SMITH of Sebree. Funeral services
were held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Methodist Church in Onton. Burial was in Onton Cemetery.

Mrs. Edith NANCE, 85, of Slaughters, died at 4:15 p.m. Thursday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. William KUNTZ, in Dixon. Besides Mrs. Kuntz she is survived by three other daughters, Mrs. Coleman EASTWOOD and Mrs. Nelia TOWNSEND of Slaughters, and Mrs. William SLATON of Madisonville; a son, R.T. Nance of Slaughters; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Methodist Church in Slaughters, with the Rev. A.N. YANCEY, the Rev. L.F. PIERCY, and the Rev. J.E. HARTFORD officiating. Burial was in Slaughters cemetery.

John Mack NANCE, jr., two-day-old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Nance of Slaughters, died July 1 at Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville. Graveside rites were conducted at Onton cemetery by the Rev. T.O. KYLE. Besides the parents, a brother, Phillip, survives.

Funeral services for Mrs. Lockie PARKER NANCE, 80, prominent Slaughters woman, were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon. The Rev. H.B. SELF, of Grove Center, officiated and burial was in Slaughters cemetery. Mrs. Nance had been in declining health for some time, but critically ill for only a few days in Hopkins County Hospital in Madisonville where she died Friday. A native of Webster county, Mrs. Nance was the daughter of Delia Ruby and George Parker, and the widow of I.G. Nance, who died eight years ago. She was a devoted member of the Slaughters Christian Church. Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. D.C. SPICKARD, of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Elbert COFFMAN and Mrs. William BENTLING, of Detroit, Mich., Mrs. C.H. RANES, Misses Clyde and Ruth Nance of Slaughters; one son, Iley G. Nance, Detroit, Mich.; several grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. J.L. HANCOCK, Madisonville, and Mrs. J.R. MILLER of Hazel; and one brother, O.H. Parker, Madisonville.

Thomas F. NANCE, 76, former resident of Dixon, died Friday at 2:30
a.m. in his home in Evansville following an illness of more than a
year. Mrs. Nance preceded him in death a little more than four
months. Surviving are one son, Coleman Nance, Vincennes, Ind.; three
daughters, Mrs. Allyne MARKS of Madisonville, Miss Willie Nance of
Evansville, and Mrs. F.D. PATRICK of Citronelle, Ala.; one brother, Ed
Nance of Slaughters, and one sister, Mrs. Sally COUCH of Indianapolis,
Ind. Funeral services and burial were in the Dixon cemetery at 11:30

The Rev. Isaiah Wesley NAPIER, 69, of Clay, pastor of the Clay and Dixon Methodist churches, died at 11:30 a.m. Monday in an Evansville hospital, following an illness of four months. Rev. Napier came to Clay from Eddyville last October. He had been in the Methodist ministry for thirty-five years and before coming to Clay had served as pastor of the following churches: Tompkinsville, Bowling Green circuit, Boxville, Elkhorn, Kuttawa, Upton, Adairville, Tolu, Bennett Memorial in Henderson, Third Street in Owensboro, Oakdale in Louisville, Broadway in Bowling Green, and Eddyville. He was born and reared in Allen county, near Scottsville. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Audrey Napier; one daughter, Mrs. Geta SEIFRIED, Clarksville, Ind.; two brothers, the Rev. H.C. Napier, Scottsville, and Baker Napier, Petroleum, Ky.; three sisters, Miss Jane Napier, Mrs. Ella WILLIAMS, and Mrs. Marion JONES, Adolphus, Ky.; and one grandchild. Funeral services were conducted in the Methodist church in Clay at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with Dr. Bedford TURNER, Henderson, district superintendent of the Methodist church, officiating. Business houses in Clay were closed for the funeral. This is the first time a Clay church has lost a pastor by death. Burial was in Fernwood cemetery, Henderson.

Mrs. Fannie Davis NASBITT, 83, wife of the late W.R. Nasbitt, died at 6 a.m. Saturday at her home in the Hopewell section following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Nasbitt died July 6, 1943. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary November 18, 1940. Mrs. Nasbitt, a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, had spent the last 52 years of her life on the farm where she lived at the time of her death. Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. T.W. JOHNSON of Frankfort, Mrs. V.L. Johnson of Clay, Mrs. C.J. BROWN of Sturgis, and Miss Opal Nasbitt, at home; two sons, L.D. Nasbitt of Sturgis and W.C. Nasbitt, at home; 12 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hopewell church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. Raymond HAZEL of Wheatcroft. Pallbearers were grandsons and flower bearers were granddaughters. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

Ora E. NAVE, 70, wholesale grocer here from 1923 until 1931, died at 6:30 a.m. Tuesday in Louisville where he had been living with his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Jake ELLIS. After Mr. Nave sold his interest in Nave-Cummins Company he operated a grocery store in Patriot, Ind., until ill health prevented further activity. A number of years ago Mr. Nave began writing poetry as a hobby and many of his poems have appeared in The Journal-Enterprise and other publications. He made many friends while living in Providence and maintained his interest in them after moving away. Survivors include the daughter; a son, Alfred Nave, in California, and one grandchild. Complete funeral arrangements were not learned, but burial is to be in Elizabethtown, Ill., at 10 a.m. today.

Henderson, Delmar Whitledge of Hammond, Ind., and Laslie Whitledge of
Beloit, Wis. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the
Benton Funeral Home in Henderson, with the Rev. C.C. ENGLAND
officiating, and burial was in Fairmont cemetery.

Funeral services for Mrs. Sudie NELSON, who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Frank McELWAIN in Elkton last Saturday at 6:20, were held in the Baptist church at Slaughters Monday at 3 p.m., with the pastor of the Baptist church in Guthrie officiating. Burial was in the Slaughters cemetery. Besides Mrs. McElwain, she is survived by another daughter, Mrs. B.M. Mrs. Laney Catherine NEWMAN, 76, died Monday at her home near Dixon.
Survivors are the husband, D.F. Newman; three daughters, Mrs. E.A.
TAYLOR and Mrs. C.A. MARKS of Dixon, and Mrs. J.R. BRANSON, Henderson;
six sons, A.J., A.T., Clovis, and E.H. Newman, Dixon; E.D. Newman of
Henderson, and R.D. Newman of Clay; twenty-three grandchildren and two
great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at
Rock Style church with the Rev. W. W. OAKLEY of Poole officiating.

Mrs. Malissa NEWMAN, 65, wife of Essel Newman, died at 1 a.m. Thursday at her home in Dixon. Surviving are the husband; a son, Harold of Columbus, Ohio; a daughter, Mrs. J.T. LAMBERT of Henderson; four grandchildren; and a brother, Darrell DUNCAN of Dixon. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Tilden General Baptist Church, with the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. Burial was in Cedar Grove cemetery.

Mrs. Nora NEWTON, 77, widow of the late L.D. Newton, died at 8 a.m. Thursday at her home in Poole following a short illness. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. T.B. COTTINGHAM of Sebree, Mrs. T.C. FELTON of Wilson, N.C., and Mrs. Paul CLARK of Fremont, Ohio; two sons, Roy of Sebree and Hugh of Wilson, N.C.; a brother, C.R. CROWLEY of Sebree; 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Poole Missionary Baptist Church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK and the Rev. W.W. OAKLEY officiating. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery, Poole.

Mrs. Oma Frances NEWTON, 77 year old resident of Route 3 Sebree,
died Thursday afternoon July 14 at Methodist Hospital Henderson. She had
been in declining health for several months.
She was a member of the Onton Methodist church and a 50 year member
of Lora Bryant Western Star Chapter in Onton.
Survivors are one daughter Mrs. Lois TRICE, one son Aubret Newton, both
of Route 3 Sebree, one sister Mrs. Alice RAY of Evansville; three
grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Onton
Methodist Church with Rev. Leslie CHAPMAN officating, assisted by Rev. C.
W. SIMPSON. Interment was in Onton Cemetery with Lora Bryant Western
Star Chapter in charge.
Pallbearers were Allen Newton, Mahom COTTINGHAM, Dandridge HALL,
Julis Ray, W. B. Hall and Butch Hall. Sebree Banner, probable date of 1966.

Marine Cpl. Frank Wynn (Jack) NICHOLS, 21, son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleo Nichols of Diamond, died at 6:30 a.m. Monday in the
Naval Hospital at Great Lakes, Ill., following an illness of leukemia myelogenous. Cpl. Nichols served 30 months in the Pacific
and participated in four major battles, the last of which was on Iwo Island. He was brought by plane to San Francisco a month ago,and then to Great Lakes. The young man graduated from Wheatcroft High School in 1942. He was captain and a star player on the school's
basketball team. During his senior year he averaged 14.5 points a game. He was also president of his class. Survivors are the
parents; one brother, Albert; two sisters, Marian Louise and Myrdel Dean; and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. George T. BRADEN.
The body arrived Wednesday morning and was taken to the home of the parents to await time for the funeral. Funeral services will
be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Diamond Missionary Baptist church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK of Dixon officiating. Military rites will
be conducted by a squad of soldiers from Camp Breckinridge, in charge of Lt. Darrell HANCOCK. Burial will be in the cemetery

John NICHOLS, 61, former Providence resident, died Monday, Feb 7, in his home in Los Angeles, Calif. He had been living in California for thirty years. In 1947 he and Mrs. Nichols spent several weeks here. Mr. Nichols was a veteran of World War I. Survivors are the wife, Nina Bell; and three sisters, Mrs. E. P. TRAYLOR, Providence, Mrs. Byrd KELLEY, of Los Angeles, and Mrs. E.P. ELLIOTT, of Camden, Ark. Funeral and burial were in Los Angeles Thursday.

Lynn Boyd NICHOLS, 94, well-known Lisman man, died at 3:30 p.m. Monday in an Evansville hospital where he had been admitted a half hour earlier. His wife, the former Mary BRASHER, died in 1944. Mr. Nichols, a retired farmer and member of a pioneer family, was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church in Lisman, was a former elder of the church and served as Sunday School superintendent for 45 years. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Birdie BENTHALL, Lisman; a granddaughter, Mrs. Charles McGAW, Lisman; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian church, with the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL, the pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Lisman cemetery.

Rufus Byron NICHOLS, 81, Providence route 1, died at 11 a.m. Monday in
the home of his daughter, Mrs. J.M. WHITLEDGE, near the Jolly
section. Survivors are three daughters, Mrs. Whitledge, Mrs. Effie
JOHNSON and Mrs. Barbara MERRIMAN, both of Clay; ten grandchildren;
nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Calvin VEASEY,
Madisonville. Funeral services were held at the home at 1:30 p.m.
Wednesday, with the Rev. W.T. WINSTEAD of Providence officiating.

William W. NICHOLS, 83, was found dead in bed Wednesday morning in his room at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil GIBSON
on Locust street. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Mr. Nichols, a retired miner, was born and reared in Webster county.
He formerly was employed by West Kentucky Coal Company. Survivors are a stepdaughter, Mrs. Everett COLE, Madisonville;
two brothers, Jack and Att Nichols, Madisonville; four sisters, Mrs. Macy DUNCAN, Manitou, Mrs. Molly VILLINES and Mrs.
Jennie BLANKENSHIP, Lisman, and Mrs. Minerva ANDERSON, Spokane, Wash.; and ten grandchildren. Funeral services
were to be held at 2 o'clock this afternoon in Lisman Cumberland Presbyterian church, with the Rev. Rupert UTLEY,

E.H. NOLLEY, 52, former Diamond resident, died Friday at his home in Phoenix, Ariz. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Nannie Nolley; stepson, Ralph HARMON, Columbia, Pa.; three grandchildren; his father, J.E. Nolley, Pilot, Va.; two brothers, Kyle Nolley, Roanoke, Va., and Clint Nolley, Pilot, Va.; and two sisters, Mrs. Madalyn CONNER, Pilot, Va., and Mrs. Ersel THOMAS, Christianburg, Va. The body arrived here Tuesday and remained at the Tapp Funeral Home in Providence until time for funeral services. Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Diamond Baptist church, with the Rev. E.G. SISK officiating. Pallbearers were George BRADEN, Ivan MOBLEY, Barney EDDINGS, Carl CAVANAH, Everett HILL, and Harmon Hill. Burial was in Lakeview cemetery.

Frank NORVELL, 67, farmer of Providence rural route, died at 8:30 a.m. Monday in an Evansville hospital where he had been a patient for several weeks. He was born and reared in Crittenden county, a son of the late Elisha and Mollie Norvell. He was a member of White Oak General Baptist Church. Survivors are the widow, Mrs. Cora KELLEY Norvell; a daughter, Mrs. Evadean TRAIL, Providence; two brothers, Dewey Norvell of Shady Grove and George Norvell of Providence; and one grandchild. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at White Oak church, with the pastor, the Rev. B.A. MERCER of Providence, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Ray DORRIS of Clay. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

James Robert NORWOOD, retired miner, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday at his home near Providence. He would have been 77 years old on February 25. Survivors are the wife, Mildred; and two brothers, J.T. Norwood, Nebo rural route, and W.T. Norwood, Harrisburg, Ill. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the home with Elder Gordon HEARON of Clay officiating. Burial was in Fox cemetery, near Providence.
