Mrs. Della McDONALD, 58, died Monday at 7:30 a.m. at her home in
Diamond, after a long illness of leukemia, during which time she had
been a hospital patient on two occasions. Survivors are the husband,
George W. McDonald; three daughters, Mrs. Virgil VAUGHN, Diamond, Mrs.
Lou KETTLER, Chicago, Ill.; and Miss Katherine McDonald, at home;
three sons, Charles, Hattiesburg, Miss., George, jr., and William
Luther, at home; five grandchildren; two brothers, Homer HAMILTON,
Wilson Dam, Ala., and Will Hamilton, Washington, D.C.; three sisters,
Miss Irene Hamilton, Counce, Tenn., Mrs. Ralph MITCHELL, Wilson Dam,
Ala., and Mrs. Leonard OWSLEY, Hamilton, Ala. Two children preceded
her in death. Mrs. McDonald was kind and devoted to her church and
community and possessed a wide circle of friends. Funeral services
were held Wednesday at 1 p.m. at the Missionary Baptist church in Diamond, of which she had been a member since 1923, with the Rev. John
ROBISON, pastor, in charge. Pallbearers were Austin EDDINGS, Hugh
STANLEY, Carroll MELTON, Jack NICHOLS, Darrell HANCOCK, Charles
CAVANAH. Flower bearers were Pearl DORRIS, Imogene BRADEN, Lavergne
Cavanah, Dorcas WILSON, Jewell Wilson, and Ruth CATES. Burial was in

George W. McDONALD, 62, familiarly known as "Uncle Tom," was found
dead in bed at his home in Diamond at 10 o'clock Sunday morning by his
daughter, Miss Catherine McDonald. The verdict of an inquest
conducted by Coroner Herman VAUGHN was that death was due to heart
failure. Mr. McDonald was born in Jonesboro, Georgia on May 12, 1880,
the son of Charles and Nanny McDonald. For twenty years he had been
an employee of the Diamond Coal Company. He was married on April 3,
1904 to Della BRADY, who died five months ago. Survivors are three
sons Charles, Vossburg, Miss., George, jr., College Park, Ga., and
William, in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.; three daughters,
Mrs. Virgil VAUGHN and Miss Catherine McDonald, Diamond, and Miss Ruby
McDonald, Chicago, Ill.; five grandchildren; a brother, W.L. McDonald,
College Park, Ga.; and two half brothers, M.L. HOWELL and T.O. Howell,
Fayetteville, Ga. Two children died in infancy. Funeral services
were conducted at the Diamond Baptist church at 2 p.m. Tuesday, with
the Rev. John ROBISON officiating. Pallbearers were Darrell HANCOCK,
Hugh STANLEY, Charles CAVANAH, Sidney WEBB, Conrad NISWONGER, and
Herman LITCHFIELD. Burial was in White Oak cemetery.

Mrs. Dovie Allen McDOWELL, 90, who made her home with a son, Lexie McDowell in Providence, died suddenly at 5 a.m. Saturday at the home of another son, Floyd McDowell, near Cresswell. Death was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. Surviving besides the sons, Lexie and Floyd, are another son, Dave, of Uniontown; a daughter, Mrs. Helen DONALDSON, Louisville; a brother, Will ZACHARY, Providence; 22 grandchildren; and 35 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday at Victory Baptist Church, of which she was a member. The Rev. Albert KEMP of Evansville officiated, assisted by the pastor, the Rev. W.W. JOHNSON. Burial was in the cemetery at Shady Grove.

Mrs. Frances (Fannie) McDOWELL, 78, died at 12:30 a.m. Thursday in her home in Providence. She suffered a stroke on Nov. 24 while visiting her son in Evansville and was returned to her home here where her condition remained critical. Mrs. McDowell spent most of her life in Crittenden county until five years ago when she moved to Providence. She was married in 1898 to S.D. McDowell who died in 1917. One son, Carl, died as an infant in 1909. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Virginia GREGORY, Shady Grove; three sons, Owen, of Clay, Cleo , of Evansville, and Ezra McDowell, Providence; three stepdaughters, Mrs. Lena ALDERSON, Providence, Mrs. Vide KERNS, of Akron, Ohio, and Mrs. Evelyn EGNER, of Paducah; a brother, James MULLEN, Paducah; fifteen grandchildre; and nine great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday in the Shady Grove Methodist church, with the Rev. R.S. RICHARDSON and the Rev. C.G. OLIVER, of Marion, officiating. Pallbearers were grandsons, James Gregory, Carlos Gregory, Ray Gregory, Junior McDowell, Hayden BROWN, and Jewell MESSAMORE. Granddaughters were flower girls. Burial was in Shady Grove cemetery.

Hughie Owen McDOWELL, 56, died at 12:20 a.m. Wednesday at his home on Kentucky avenue following a long illness. He was married on January 27, 1921 to Miss Castella BABB, who survives. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Shady Grove. Other survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Virgil SUMMERS of Princeton and Mrs. Jewel BROWN, Evansville; four sons, Hughie F. of Uniontown, Charles of Kentucky School for Blind in Louisville, E.N. and Larry Owen, Providence; a sister, Mrs. Olvy GREGORY, Shady Grove; two brothers, Ezra of Providence and Cleo of Evansville; and three half-sisters, Mrs. Ben CURREN of Akron, Ohio, Mrs. Eulas VAUGHN of Paducah, and Mrs. Lena ALDERSON, Providence. The body is at the home on Kentucky avenue. Funeral services will be held at 1 o'clock this afternoon in General Baptist church, with the Rev. Rupert UTLEY of Madisonville and the Rev. C.W. DUFFER officiating. Burial will be in the cemetery in Shady Grove.

Miss Lola McDOWELL, 55, of Central City, formerly of Blackford, died at noon Friday in the Greenville hospital following a brief illness. Miss McDowell was a grade school teacher in Central City and a member of Central City Methodist Church. She was born in Crittenden county and was a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. F.G. McDowell. Surviving are three sisters, Mrs. Bertha SIMPSON of Marion, Mrs. Alma Simpson of Repton, and Miss Reva McDowell, Blackford; and five brothers, E.D. of Breckinridge, Tex., E.C. of Summerville, W. Va., Hobard of St. Albans, W. Va., Herbert and Fred McDowell, both of Blackford. The body was at Melton Funeral Home in Providence until Sunday. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Enon General Baptist Church near Blackford, with the Rev. Clyde DEMPSEY of Sturgis officiating. Burial was in Sugar Grove cemetery in Crittenden county.

William F. McDOWELL, 82, retired blacksmith, was found dead Tuesday afternoon in his home near Providence where he lived alone. Lee SEYMOUR discovered the body when he went there on business. Coroner J. Murray BLUE conducted an inquest and attributed death to a heart attack. Mr. McDowell was thought to have been dead since Sunday night. Surviving are a brother, David McDowell of Marion, nieces and nephews. The body will remain at Melton Funeral Home until this afternoon when funeral services will be conducted at 2 o'clock at the Baptist Church in Shady Grove, with the pastor officiating. Burial will be in Shady Grove cemetery.

Floyd L. McELROY, 78, died Thursday night in his home in Sebree. Surviving are two sons, J.L. McElroy of Madisonville and Will McElroy of Henderson county; and a sister, Mrs. M. BROWN of Sebree. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Springfield Funeral Home in Sebree and burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree.

Charlie McELYA of LaCentre, brother of Mrs. Vert C. FRASER of Providence, died Tuesday night in Riverside Hospital in Paducah where he was undergoing treatment for a heart ailment. Funeral and burial will be held this afternoon in LaCentre.

Mrs. Mary LISMAN McGAW, 86, former Providence resident, died at 9 p.m. Tuesday in a Memphis, Tenn., hospital. Mrs. McGaw had made her home in Memphis with her daughter, Mrs. Roy CORTNER, since the death a number of years ago of her husband, George McGaw, former Providence tobacconist. She was a member of a pioneer Webster county family and was a lifelong member of the Presbyterian Church. Surviving besides Mrs. Cortner are a son, Clarence McGaw, Pueblo, Colo.; two grandsons, Jack Cortner of New York, and Jean Cortner, medical student in Vanderbilt University, Nashville; a granddaughter, Mrs. Mary Frances YOUNG, Lexington; a great-grandson; two brothers, R.M. Lisman, Dixon, and L.C. Lisman, Princeton; and two sisters, Mrs. C.H. BLACKWELL, Evansville, and Mrs. C.D. CHILDS, Glendale, Calif.; nieces and nephews. The body will arrive early tonight at Tapp Funeral Home in Providence. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Friday afternoon in First Presbyterian Church. Burial will be in Big Hill cemetery.

Mrs. Mollie FREEMAN McGAW, 76, died at her home near Providence at 11 a.m. Tuesday following a paralytic stroke
suffered at 2:30 that morning. Although Mrs. McGaw had been ill for several months, she had been showing great
improvement, and her death was unexpected. Born at Merry Hill, N.C., on October 6, 1867, she came to Kentucky
at the age of six. She was married on March 5, 1890 to James R. McGaw, who preceded her in death on July 8, 1933.
Mrs. McGaw was a member of the Cumberland Presbyterian church at Lisman. Survivors are two step-daughters,
Mrs. George T. NUNN, Sullivan, and Mrs. W.P. GIVENS, Corpus Christi, Tex.; six sons, George R. McGaw, Phoenix, Ariz., Joe H. McGaw, James P. Barrett McGaw, and John W. McGaw, Providence, Tom G. McGaw, Hopkinsville, and Frank W. McGaw S2c, United States
Navy; seven grandchildren, and one great-granddaughter. Funeral services will be conducted at the home this afternoon
at 6 o'clock, with the Rev. Benjamin CONNAWAY officiating. Burial will be in Big Hill cemetery.

Volney Bailey McGAW, 66, of Madisonville, who had a number of relatives here, died Wednesday of last week in Hopins County Hospital. Survivors are a brother, J.W. McGRAW [sic], route 3, Madisonville; and nephew, N.S. McGAW, Madisonville. Funeral services were held Thursday at Harris Funeral Home in Madisonville, with the Rev. O.T. NICHOLS officiating, and burial was in Odd Fellows cemetery, Madisonville.

Mrs. Maude MARTIN of Clay received a telegram Monday stating that Mrs. Ella Mae McGILL of Oklahoma City, Okla., formerly of Clay, had died there Sunday. Surviving are one son, Messick McGill of Tulsa, Okla.; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Lou Ella McGill SKINNER of Oklahoma City; three grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Carrie ROBINSON of Oklahoma City. Funeral and burial were held Tuesday in Oklahoma City.

Steve Willie McGILL of Tulsa, Okla., formerly of Clay, died at 4 p.m. Sunday in Tulsa. Mr. McGill operated a grocery and meat market
in Clay for several years. Surviving are the wife, Mrs. Ella Mae McGill; one daughter, Mrs. Clyde SKINNER of Rochester, N.Y.; one
son, Messick McGill of Tulsa; a half brother, Jerry McGill, Indianapolis, Ind.; and three grandchildren. Funeral and burial were in

Mrs. Nancy McGRANAHAN, 77, of Boonville IN, formerly of Clay, died Sunday morning at a nursing home in Evansville following a long illness. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. Cletis ENGLISH, Chicago, and Mrs. Jake JONES, near Clay; three sons, Elden HENDERSON, near Clay; Iber Henderson, Chicago; and Sam Henderson, Boonville; and one brother, Pete SILVEY, Fredonia; two sisters, Mrs. Mary SCOTT, Madisonville, and Mrs. Lizzie HINCHEY, Crittenden County; sixteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the General Baptist Church in Clay with the pastor, the Rev. C.H. HOWARD, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Polk Laffoon McGRAW, 59, Clay postmaster, died at 1 p.m. Saturday in the home of Mr. and Mrs. D.A. LEDBETTER in Clay, following an illness of several months. Mr. McGraw had been active in business affairs in Clay for many years. He had taught in the school, had been connected with the Farmers Bank and the Webster County Bank, and had been cashier of the Peoples Bank. For the past several years he had been postmaster. He was a member of the Ashland Cumberland Presbyterian church, the Masonic Lodge, the Lions Club, and the Clay Business Men's Association. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Gertie Asher McGraw; two sisters, Mrs. Roy CHANDLER of Corydon and Mrs. D.A. Ledbetter of Clay; one half-sister, Mrs. Mary Rice HUDSON, Clay; and one brother, Phillip SKINNER, U.S. Army. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Franklin Funeral Home in Clay, with the Rev. R.T. MITCHELL, pastor of Ashland church officiating, assisted by the Rev. Bayne WILSON of Bone Gap, Ill. All Clay business houses were closed during the funeral. Masons were in charge of the funeral, with Billie LINDO of Morganfield, chaplain, and Carl PRICE, marshal. Masons serving as pallbearers were Aaron LAMBERT, N.C. HAMMACK, J.F. HARRIS, Frank FORTENBERRY, J.D. RAYBURN, and H.R. WELCH. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery, Clay.

a.m. Saturday at her home there. Survivors are a daughter, Mrs.
Gladys KITCHEN, three grandchildren, of Clay; a brother, Cecil WATSON,
Rosiclare, Ill.; and two sisters, Mrs. Ida FLOYD, Marion, and Mrs.
F.E. BROWN, Manila, Ark. Funeral services were held at the home at
1:30 Sunday afternoon, with the Rev. Truitt MILLER officiating,
assisted by the Rev. James BLUME. Burial was in Union church cemetery

Guy McGREGOR, 71, Dalton farmer, died Monday in his home after an illnes of a year. Survivors are the wife, Mrs. Maud McGregor; two sons, Glenn and Daniel McGregor, Dalton; two daughters, Misses Mary Etta McGregor and Elizabeth McGregor, Madisonville; and a sister, Mrs. W.H. LESTER, Dalton. Funeral services were held Tuesday in Prospect church, near Dalton, with burial in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Elzie Ellie McGRIGOR, 51, died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday at her home near Cedar street in Providence, after an illness of
several years. She moved here fifteen years ago from Hopkins county. Survivors are the husband, J.S. McGrigor; a sister, Mrs.
Ben FRANKLIN, Charleston; and two brothers, Ernest DOWNEY and Euel Downey, Madisonville. Funeral services and burial
were held at 1 p.m. today at Old Beulah cemetery in Hopkins county.

Funeral services for Earl McGUYER, 49, city councilman, who died
suddenly last Thursday morning, were held Sunday at 10 a.m. at the
home on Maple street. The Rev. G.F. PHELPS officated, assisted by the
Rev. R. T. MITCHELL. Active pallbearers were Mayor Chas. J.
MIEDREICH, Councilmen J.L. BENJAMIN, E.G. LAMBERT, John FOXWELL, J.M.
PARKER, and M.C. PALMER. Members of the Clarence McCoy Post of the
American Legion were honorary pallbearers. Burial was in Lakeview

Last rites for Strother McINTOSH, 45, who died of a heart attack in Yakima, Wash., on Sept. 10 were held Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
in the Tapp Funeral Home in Providence. The body arrived Wednesday morning. The Rev. T.G. HACKNEY, pastor of the
Methodist church, officiated, and burial was in Big Hill cemetery. Mr. McIntosh, a former resident of Providence, was an employee
of a duPont plant in Washington. He had been released from active service in the Air Corps at Scott Field, Ill., where he had
trained as a tail gunner. Survivors are four sisters, Mrs. Maggie LOFTEN and Mrs. Mamie DAILEY of Providence, Mrs. Anna
Sue JOHNSON, South Whitley, Inc., and Mrs. Laura DODDS of Detroit, Mich.; and three brothers, Wade McIntosh of Chicago,
Ill., William McIntosh, West Frankfort, Ill., and Roy McIntosh, Detroit.

Mrs. Della Mae McKELLEY, 59, of Henderson, died at 11:10 p.m. Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Alvy RICH in Clay following an illness of three weeks. She had been brought there the preceding Sunday. Survivors are three sisters, Mrs. Rich of Clay, Mrs. Nellie DAUGHTRY, of Henderson, and Mrs. Joe McINTYRE, of Evansville; four brothers, George MILLER, of Clay, Herman Miller, of Pride, Jim Miller, of Providence, and Byron Miller, of Madisonville; step-mother, Mrs. Kizzie Miller, of Detroit, Mich.; and two half-sisters, of Detroit. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Franklin and Hunt Funeral Home in Clay, with the Rev. E.G. SISK, of Diamond, officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. cemetery in Clay.

Eddie McKINSEY, 58, died at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at his home on St. Bernard street in Providence. Surviving are the wife, Lillie Mae; four sons, Eddie Lee of St. Louis, and William, James and Bobbie McKinsey, of Providence; a sister, Miss Ruth McKinsey of Madisonville; and five grandchildren. Mrs. Della McMULLIN, 63, of Madisonville, formerly of Providence, died at 5 a.m. Monday in Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville. She had been transferred there on February 22, from Jennie Stuart Hospital in Hopkinsville where she had been a patient for six days. Her husband, Roy McMullin, was Louisville & Nashville Railroad Company agent in Providence and they lived on Stewart street for several years. He is now agent in Madisonville. Surviving are the husband; a daughter, Mrs. Max READ, Hopkinsville; two granddaughters, Susan ASH, Highland Park, Mich.; a brother, Carl NORVELL, Sebree; four sisters, Mrs. Ed WALKER, Mrs. Ed CRITSER, Mrs. Virginia PORTER and Mrs. Blanche KOHL, of Sebree. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Barnett Funeral Home in Madisonville, with the Rev. John HARDY officiating. Burial was in Springdale cemetery, Sebree.

Oscar P. McMULLIN, 83, died at 7 a.m. Friday at his home in Poole. He moved to Poole four months ago from Robards where he had lived in the same house for 54 years. Mr. and Mrs. McMullin observed their fifty-seventh wedding anniversary on Oct. 11. Survivors are the wife, Peachy Virginia; a daughter, Mrs. Stella M. SMITH, El Paso, Tex.; three sons, Homer, of New York, Guy of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and D.D., of Williamston, W. Va; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. R.H. ROYSTER, of Sebree, who died recently, was his sister. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in McMullin Chapel Methodist church, of which he was a member, with the Rev. W.E. SUTHERLAND officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery.

Mrs. Ella Nora McMURRAY, 75, died at her home in Waverly at 6:15 o'clock Wednesday night. Her death was brought about by a complication of diseases and her advanced age. Mrs. McMurray is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Frank HIGGINSON, one son, T.S. McMurray; two sisters, Mrs. Richard TAPP of Dixon and Mrs. Thias GIBSON of Clay, and one brother, James Higginson of Uniontown, Ky. She also leaves seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the residence in Waverly Friday morning at 10 o'clock by the Rev. BAKER, pastor of the Clay Methodist church, and burial will take place in the McClure Chapel cemetery. Source of clipping unknown and undated. Compiler's note: Charlotte Ellenora Higginson McMurray was born 9 January 1853, and died 21 November 1928 in Union County. She was the daughter of Washington Higginson and Eliza CREWS. Funeral services for Mrs. Lucy McVEY, 63, of Henderson, were held at 2 p.m. Friday at White Oak General Baptist Church. The Rev. Claud THRELKELD of the White Oak section officiated, assisted by the Rev. Mr. COX of Henderson. Survivors are a son, J.P. McVey of Henderson, and a sister, Mrs. Cordelia BARTON of Dawson Springs.
