SI am
seeking information on John Payne, who purchased land in Bond County, Illinois
in 1818. There is a land transaction in 1837, where he sold 240 acres
to his son, Thomas Jefferson Payne, also of Scott County, Kentucky. I
think he could be connected to my Paine relatives, who settled in that same
area of Bond County in 1828. My ggggrandfather, Elisha Paine, was born
in North Carolina in 1806 and married in 1826 in Garrard County, Kentucky.
I think Elisha is connected to the Payne's of Burke County, North Carolina,
which originated in Spotsylvania County, Virginia. Any information
about either of these families would be
helpful.
