Revolutionary War Soldiers


PEAKE, William

Was living in Scott by 1792 and moved to Trimble County where he died. William Peake, who served as a private from Virginia in the
Revolutionary War.
Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of 40 Dollars 00 cents per annum, to commence 4th day of March 1848
Certificate of Pension issued the  18th Feby 1837 and sent to ___ S.J. Trabue

Kentucky, Henry County pension issued 17th day of March 1834.

In February 7th, 1834, William Peake, appeared in Henry County Court aged, 69 years, stated he was a resident of Wheeling on the Ohio
River when he entered service in 1788 for a tour of 6 months, that he again entered service in  March 17__.  He stated he again entered
service in April 1785 as an Indian spy - his residence was still Wheeling.  He states he was born in Prince William County, VA in 1765 -
stated he lived at Wheeling, VA when called into service and moved to Kentucky in the year 1792 to the part that is now known as Franklin
County where he lived for 16 years.

Trimble County, Kentucky, 4th April 1855
Elizabeth Peake, widow of William Peake appeared in Court - she was aged about 80 years.  She states she was married to William Peake
in Scott County in 1791 and that her name before marriage was Elizabeth Forts.  That her said husband William Peake died in Trimble
County, KY on October 1839.  She stated they lived in Scott County till the year 1818.  She gives his date of death again as 28th Sept 1837.
She also stated the Clerks office in Scott County was burnt and her marriage record destroyed.
Robert Frost, the son-in-law of Elizabeth Peake gave deposition he having married her youngest daughter.

Andrew Mitchell also gave deposition, stated the oldest child of William and Elizabeth Peake was named John Peak, who died over 10 years
ago.  He had family record of William Peake and that the maiden name of Elizabeth was Forts

Pension record states son John died about 1833 and second son, Christopher was living in 1850.  Robert Frost married their youngest daughter
and was living in Trimble County in 1843
