Revolutionary War Soldiers


VINZANT, John

Of Scott County, Kentucky, who was a private in the Company commanded by Capt. McDaniel of the Regt. commanded by
Col. Parker in the PA Line for 2 years from 1777.
Inscribed on the roll of Kentucky at the rate of 80 dollars per annum to commence on the 4th day of March 1834.
Certificate of Pension issued the 25th day of Jan '33 and sent to Hon. R. M. Johnson, House of Reps.

John Vinzant appeared in Scott County Court in November 1832, aged 80 years.  Stated he was born in the month of
Nov 1752 in Bucks County, Pennsylvania and that his sister Susan Vinzant has proof of his birth in the family bible in
Georgetown, Scott County, KY.  That he was living in Bedford County, Pennsylvania when called into service.  That since
the revolution he removed to Kentucky and has lived here ever since.  That he served under Capt. Jno.. McDonald upwards
of two years at Franktown near Allegany Mountains.  Than he received order from Jno.. Parker to march to & guard Fort
Lowry in the capacity of Lieutenant and he served that for 18 months.

J. Johnson a "Bishop of the congregation of Christians"  certified he was sell accounted with John Vinzant and that he
believes him to be 80 years of age and to have been a soldier of the revolution.  

Susannah Vanzant aged 66 years stated of his service - stated that the family bible record was mutilated and almost gone,
but that he was 80 years of age.
