Declaration
in order to obtain the benefit of the ___ section of the Act of Congress
of the 4th July 1836. On this day personally appeared before me a justice
of the peach in and for the
county
aforesaid Franky Quinn a resident of the county of Scott and State of Kentucky
aged eighty one years who being first duly sworn according to law doath on
her oath make the
following
declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the provision made by the Act
of Congress passed July 4, 1836. That she is the widow of Benjamin
Quinn who was a soldier of the
revolution
on the Virginia line from the county of Culpeper State of Virginia and by
reason of old age and ___ of loss of memory she cannot swear positivily as
to the precise length of
his service
by according to the best of her recollection he served not a less period
than two years for such service. I claim a pension and will detail
to the best of my recollection his
service.
He entered the service in or near the commencement of the War of the
Revolution and was out on many and various towns as a soldier in the militia
all of which I believe he
served
until the end of the time for which he entered and that he was honorable
discharge but as to his discharge and under whom he served I at this time
have no recollection but will
recollect
of his being in the services at various times and of his being at
Hillsburg, S Carolina on one occasion and at Fredericksburg, Virginia at
another time she positively __ that he
was
often in the services and that she encountered much difficulty during his
absence from home and that she had to labour with her own hands in making
and ___ of their crops and
attend
to their children she will recollect of his leaving home in August on a campaign
and of her being left with her four little children and having the whole
crop to ____ and to struggle
through
a very hard and severe winter with her children and of her husband returning
in the spring of the year just one week before her daughter Franky was born
and of remaining at
home
about one month of his being again called in the service. From the
bible record it appears Franky was born the 22and day of March 1781. From
this delicate situation in which
she
was and the birth of her daughter as above stated and ____ _____ unable her
to fix the time and period of that campaign. She well knows that he
was often in the service ____
before
and after the ___ as above but she is unable to specify the number of tours

known that he was in the

at various times more two years and she believes the various campaigns was
in the Militia Services as a volunteer and he was never on any pension roll
in the ___ state. She
further
declares that she was married to the said Benjamin Quinn in the year seventeen
hundred and seventy one and that her husband the aforesaid Benjamin Quinn
died on the 7th
