JOHNSON, Charles

Of Scott County, who was a private in the Maryland Line of Capt. Morrison's Co. from 1775 for 3 years
Inscribed on the Roll of Kentucky at the rate of 8 dollars per month to commence on the 27th of April 1818
Certificate of Pension issued the 6th day of Jany 1819 and sent to Hon. R. M. Johnson, House of Reps U States.

Charles Johnson appeared in Scott County Court on April 27th, 1818 to make declaration for a pension.  He stated
he entered service in 1775 in Maryland Line, that term of service was three years, that he was discharged at
Fredericktown, Maryland and then joined a minute company under Capt. Marrs and was in service to his country
till the end of the war.  He stated he was in the battles of Germantown, Brandywine and at Queens or Quinns Island
and that he was wounded.  He was at this time sixty five years of age, reduced in circumstances and a resident of
Scott County, KY.

Benj. Johnson, Scott County, Circuit Judge stated it appeared that Charles had served a period more than nine months
which is certified to the secretary.

Charles Johnson again appeared in Scott County Court on the 7th of August 1820, aged seventy years last May.  He
stated he was wounded in arm near the mouth of the Potomac.  He stated he had no property of any kind at this
time.  He states he is skin dresser, but is so infirm that he can seldom work.  States he has eight in family besides
himself, to wit; his wife, aged 55 years & unable to labor, a daughter, Rebekah, aged 23 years, Betsy, aged 21 years,
Dorothy, aged 20 years, Robt, aged 17 years & Charles, same age, Jenny, 15 years & Nancy, aged 12 years.  Stated
that they can merely support themselves being principally girls.

Notification sent to Thomas Henderson, Esq, Great Crossing, Ky on 31 Oct 1820 regarding his pension.
