Revolutionary War Soldiers


McHATTON, McELHATTON, Alexander

Pension states that Alexander sometime after the War he moved from Pennsylvania to Scott County, Kentucky and then moved
from there to Ohio.

Also states he was born in June or July 1748 in Pennsylvania - names of parents not shown.

He was commissioned July 31, 1777 - Major of the 5th Battalion Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia and on May 15, 1778 he
received orders to take command of the Cumberland County Pennsylvania Militia on May 10, 1780 he was commissioned Major
of the 8th battalion Cumberland County, Pennsylvania Militia.  He stated he served as a Major for four years eleven months
and fifteen days and was at different forts and garrisons on the frontier of Pennsylvania under order of General James Pett__.
Solder died April 23, 1837, in Greene County, Ohio.  HIs wife did not survive him.  His three sons, Samuel, John and David were
living in 1851.  The son Samuel was then a resident of Greene County, Ohio and signed his name McHatten.
The soldier referred to his brothers, John and Samuel, who were in the Revolutionary War.  They were taken prisoners at Long Island.
