Welcome to Russell County Historical Society
The Russell County Historical Society meets on the second Thursday of each month at 6p.m. central time in the community room of the Public Library in Jamestown. Exceptions to this are for Kentucky Humanities Council presentations. We have events currently being planned.
March 19, 2005 – 2:00
p.m. Hugh Ridenour – A D-Day Tragedy
Russell Co. Public Library, Jamestown, KY.
Sponsored by the Kentucky Humanities Council, the Jane Lampton Chapter
NSDAR, the Russell County Historical Society, and the National
Endowment for the Humanities. Bring a friend! This tragic story
is taken from the diary of a young woman who marries her true love and
stands by him as he goes to war. D-Day and the events at Normandy
take his life. It is the journey of her marriage and widowhood and the
survival of his death upon which the story focuses. It is a
wonderful, tragic, historical story.
